Hey! we have the same tires and same car! lol.

but anyway.

yeah dude they're great tires for the price on a dry surface bbut in the rain losing traction is a Possibility when pushing the gas to hard from a stop and turning right or left just make sure you take it easy in the rain and when its dry they're amazing for 150ish? a tire

dozer 12-31-2008 12:26 PM

dont know, i got dunlop dz101's on my car

Dude, if you floor it from a stop in the rain you will lose traction with every tire...

ShinkaTeen 12-31-2008 12:34 PM

not floor it.

but if you give it just a TAD to much gas the rear will give.

trust me, its alot more figity than other tires in the rain.

chiketkd 12-31-2008 12:49 PM

I've had them on my '06 base 6MT for just over 10K miles. Love them. Dry traction is great and wet traction is actually phenomenal. Autocrossers who run on Kumho's typically use SPT's as their wet tire.

ShinkaTeen 12-31-2008 12:55 PM

whhhattttttttttt ^^^ blasphemy , but he does have AX experience and i do not.

take His review over mine, its a more reliable source.

but from my experiance compared to the falken... altawhateverthehell

the falkens were better on a wet surface driving on the mountain here but i didnt buy them so i dont know the comparison of DD .

but the kumho's are Amazing on dry surface . at least that u know for sure.

lilring 12-31-2008 01:29 PM

These tires will wear really fast!

Rotr8 12-31-2008 01:30 PM

Ive always run Kumho's
I used to have the Ecsta MX's but they wore way too fast, even for a ultra high performance summer only.
Now I have the Ecsta SPTs, nice and quiet on the road, plenty of grip, and really well priced, with a decent treadwear life.
I am running 245/40 fr and 275/35 r so as far as a direct comparo its only really my opinion thats stated above....

Jedi54 12-31-2008 01:31 PM

I never used the SPT's but a few locals here have and I've heard lots of great comments. Sounds like a great tire for the price and performance is MUCH better then the oem bridgestones / dunlops

+1000 to the MX's. I ran those after my OEM's were worn out and even though they were a phenomenal tire, they just wore out too fast.

dozer 12-31-2008 01:42 PM

t1rs FTW...those are my next tire, had em on my old 8 and i loved em

Jedi54 12-31-2008 01:43 PM

yup, that's what I've got on my car for now AND I'm already shopping for more Toyos. (in a different size. hint hint, wink wink) :fruit:

dozer 12-31-2008 01:45 PM

UH OH! why does r888 come to mind?

Jedi54 12-31-2008 01:46 PM

:suspect:

LOL. I should clarify my statement - the SPT's are the tire of choice by Kumho drivers when there's standing water on course. When the surface is just lightly covered in water, a max performance summer tire will out-perform the SPT every time.

The Kumho's will wear well if you don't drive them hard for long periods of time in the dry. While their dry grip is good, they overheat and the tread will wear away quickly.

I'm also running the same size and should get 30-35K out of mine. It's all about how you drive on them...

c0ldf1ame 12-31-2008 06:42 PM

^ +1 completely dependant on how you drive and what kinda alignment you have,

my stock bridgestones lasted me 35k miles

chiketkd 12-31-2008 07:20 PM

I run my autocross alignment with about -1.5 degrees of camber.

SouthFL 12-31-2008 07:38 PM

More than OK as a UHP street tire.
But I would venture to say that these tires would be borderline at a track event.
I know a WRX dirver who had a set of SPT delaminate on track.

mysql 12-31-2008 07:38 PM

i currently own spts and would not buy again. they develop flat spots when they cool on my garage floor. So the next day my car is all bumpy till the tires warm up and round again.
