OEM Tires
the stock tires on my 8 are almost shot. i never peeled out much once or twice at the most it kind of pisses me off i will be going for knew pirelli pzero Neros its just well im spoiled and before my parents will buy me knew tires they would like to know that oems do wear out kind of fast i got like 20,000 miles on it. so if some of you can put down how many miles before you changed your tires it would put my mothers worries about my driving to ease and help a fellow rx8 owner to get knew tires. please no flames about me being spoiled. i cant help it if my mother wants to buy me things

My 8 has 13,000 miles on it. It's in for state inspection right now, and I'm praying the tires will pass.
To be fair, I shoulda rotated them sooner though. One pair is pretty good, the other is pretty bad. By 20,000 miles, I'd expect to see belts poking through.
People's tire mileage varies...

my tires lasted 13000 miles (rears only, front still good) then i got a flat in both the rears backing out of my driveway. DAMN neighbor across the alley was working on his deck.NAILS. Had it towed to mazda they looked at it and said the extened tire warranty was no good because of lack of tread so i had to pay everything. wait till you hear this. after tax and towing charge $737.25. For 2 freaking tires. what the F&%K!!!! I just get a mental picture of them sitting around staring at my tire laughing how their labor charge keeps going up.

worst stock tires ever.
From my point of view, i paid almost 30K for a car, only to have to drop money for a full set of tires less than a year later. And thats with NO burn outs, or extreme handling, just daily driving. I know stuff wears out, but the stock tires were not even all seasons. I think dealers should be smart enough to put on different, equivalently priced tires before initial sale, based on the region you are in. If your in southern FL or TX, fine summer only high perf. tires work. But in Baltimore, we get hot summers, and sometimes brutal winters.
That may sound like whining, but im genuinly urked by the amount of stupid little things that have come up on this car, that didnt even come up on my 93 VOLKSWAGON corrado, and i know im not the only one.

I'm at 16,000 and mine are fine.
As for your new tires, to make sure you get the best mileage and wear, check your pressure regularly and rotate every ~5000 mi.
Oh yeah, almost forgot - jewish-rx8's mom - I saw your son doing donuts in the mall parking lot the other day.
For real. :D

I just got a call from Wayne Mazda where my 8 is in for service. Apparently After a mere 10,325 miles my rears I shot and they're telling me I'm doing burn outs. I'm not... The last time I left my car there I got it back w/ over 50 miles more on it... I can't wait to see the mileage this time... I suspect foul play...

Just a suggestion to all. Rotate the tires every other oil change and you can easily get 25k out of them. I wasn't nice to my tires and i got 29k.
EDIT: I have the 18" bridgestones re040's i think

He's as bad as Can
I'm another RE040 owner with 25,000 miles with about another 1-2K more to go. That's with about 4 hours off track time also.
Watch the air pressure @ rotate every 5,000

31K with two track days and I drive it hard.
Rotate every oil change keep pressures right
If you think these wear bad just look at the reports on Tirerack the s-03 go away in half the time.
