See the attached file...straight from the japanese website.

as i said in the other thread, the wheels in that picture you linked to is the 16" rim that is offered on the low-power models of the rx8 (only the base model AT gets these in the US).

the only other options are the mazdaspeed wheels.

I do like the "puddle lamp" under the side mirror (picture 1). It's available here only as an aftermarket mod.

Glyphon 02-01-2006 11:33 AM

yup. forum member "derwankel" makes them, and they are very nice, resonably priced, and come with very detailed installation instructions.

"puddle lamp" isn't a direct translation, but i used taht because its what such lights are commonly referred to here. direct translation would be "ground illumination lamp" :)

RotrDoc 02-01-2006 11:52 AM

Thanks, Glyphon. I had just found that out about derwankel. Looks like he's specialized on just a couple of very nice convenience/appearance items.

this is your second thread on those 16 inch wheels, those are old and are sold with rx8's that don't come with the 18 inch alloy option. Those wheels been out as long as the cars been out.

Glyphon 02-01-2006 11:59 AM

yup, he does good work too.

theboy 02-01-2006 05:34 PM

Glyphon Thanks~! i really need those clear photos. :ylsuper:

There is one more wheel option now available here in Japan. It is the standard wheel, but the surface is polished and shiny, instead of the standard matt finish. These new optional wheels come standard on the "sport prestige limited II" model.

theboy 02-07-2006 06:38 AM

copacabana44 can u show us some photos?

those are available here too. they look exactly like the regular 18" wheels, only shinier...which is why i didn't specifically mention them, as they are essentially the exact same wheel.

zoom44 02-07-2006 04:33 PM

of course the original Mazdaspeed wheels are available in like 5 finishes

http://www.w-tune.com/

and there is the new MS wheel also

theboy 02-08-2006 06:38 PM

Glyphon what is the best 16" tyres you recommends?
haven't found anyone selling their 18" rims yet.

Glyphon 02-09-2006 04:45 PM

i've got the 18" version of these tires, and absolutely love them. in the 18" size, they are in my opinion the best performance/price tire out there. superior handling (wet and dry) to the bridgestone potenza's that came stock, and much much much quieter (at less than 1/2 the price).

Kumho Ecsta SPT

I've also heard good things about:
Yokohama AVS ES100
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....1=yes&place=19

Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position (these are great tires, some of the best you can buy...more expensive)
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....1=yes&place=74

also, all the tires i've listed are summer tires. so if you live where there is snow, you will want snow tires for winter as summer tires as basically skates on snow or ice. either get a 2nd set of rims or change the tires out on the 1 set of rims.

Where i live there is almost no snow or ice, so i don't know which ones are good, but people seem to like the Dunlop M3 Sport for winter tires.
