normal steering wheel vibration

Just curious how much vibration or natural road feel everyone is getting in the steering wheel while driving at different speeds.

The 8 is definitely one of the smoothest cars I have ever driven. But these are the lowest profile tires I've ever experienced.

Occassionally, I do get very slight vibration through steering wheel. I just want to make sure that this is natural road feel and not that the wheels are not balanced correctly.

What is everyone else experiencing?

honestly,
I havent had any viberation in sterling wheel yet

like mike said, I too have no vibration at speeds up to 100. RX8 is a smooth driving car as with the other newer mazdas (maybe cuz of their suspension setups?).

I had even smaller tires on my Celica (215/40/19) and you can feel every nook and cranny on the road. RX8 is smooth as silk, but if you do not torque your wheels correctly, you will get vibration at higher speeds due to your wheel 'coming loose' for lack of a better term.

Mine is smooth as silk, not a vibration to be found. All I can say is Happy Day!!

And that is high praise to Mazda and the RX-8 in particular. I've been plagued with trouble and have rarely been satisfied with virtually every car I've owned in the last 20 years due to persistent, and seemingly uncorrectable minor vibrations at various speeds (mostly FWD Japanese vehicles). All manner of fixing rarely changes the problem. I chalk it up to inferior suspensions, but who knows?

However, the RX-8 is EXEMPLARY in this regard

I dont get any vibration from my steering wheel at all.

I have to say, although the steering is super quick and the car handles like a dream, feedback from the road is not as great as I hoped.

With my MX-5 I could feel every little change in the road surface. I sorta miss that.

mikeb 10-04-2003 01:41 PM

why would you miss that

danRX8man 10-06-2003 09:16 AM

I guess I'm just used to the spongy ride of my suv.

Also, there is a lot of contruction on the roads where I live creating uneven road surfaces.

I'm not getting any vibration from lack of whell balance. I just "feel" the road. (extremely sensitive).

Again -- This is the smoothest riding car I've driven.

me too

No vibration at all, up to about 105MPH. Very, very solid.
