New Wheels

I've been thinking about getting some axis wheels but I think I want to go with a forged wheel instead. Do forged wheels make a big difference? What about these www.zeforged.com

to my understanding they are A LOT stronger

those rims on the z are nice

I have to admit, those are really nice looking.

Forged wheels tend to be stronger, lighter and more expensive than cast. Are they true 3 piece wheels? They look good, but will be harder to clean than smooth wheels.

I talked to guy their and he said I can get them in 2pc or 3pc. The 2pc are quite a bit less expensive then the 3pc. How do you think they would look with a gun metal center?

I am a big fan of contrasting spokes/centers. If I were going for this wheel would prod get the dark centers

Thanks for the info guys.

While the rivets look nice, I would hate to clean all the brake dust off them. The stock wheels are relatively easy to clean with very few nooks and crannies.

I have forged wheels, and they are very strong compared to Axis wheels. Axis wheels do look great for a great price, but they are still cast wheels. It's a compromise you have to decide on.

I have a 2 piece forged wheel, and yes they are a b!tch to keep clean. But I love to clean my car, so detailing it is enjoyable.

watch 3pc forged rims. it tends to be the centre peice thats forged and the rest is soft spun material.

Not exactly true. The hats are soft aluminum, before spinning, however, the spinning process "work hardens" the material and makes it almost the same as forged. The forged centers are cast, first, then they are mashed into their final shape (for lack of a better description) and this makes the castings much more dense and strong. The spinning process for the hats also moves the molecules and makes the material both more dense and strong.
The other advantage of the more expensive 3 pc wheels are the ability to replace one PART of the wheel, instead of the whole thing, when you run across one of our wonderful street repair jobs.
