Congrats man! Rishie you really are the best/one of the best vendors on the boards and to hear that you've been maintaining this level of support with a new born in the house is mindblowing!

On a more serious note, any word on 17's? Looks like the inner diameter on the barrel is a bit better than the RPF1's on the 18" but it's hard to tell without throwing them on the car. I've been poking around looking for another set of wheels for AutoX to replace the RPF1's due to the low clearance on the 17's over the stock calipers and to be able to maintain a similar look and weight without gouging my wallet is pretty damned tempting...

Wind Dance 12-22-2009 07:08 AM

tempting

Endless Rotaries 12-22-2009 01:31 PM

ALL PM'S REPLIED.

Anijo,

Your words of kindness are a great gift to me. It's tough, real tough, i'm working in tidbits throughout the day. The country's economic status isn't allowing me to get a full time nanny so I gotta wear quite a few hats these days.

SADLY NO 17" FOR FORGESTAR. Your other options would be quite expensive or non existing in a RX8 friendly offset.

Oh what tire size are you running on the 17's?

18" opens up a whole slew of options though.

Sent you a PM. Take your time, I'll wait til the baby is asleep. ;) Congrats!

Endless Rotaries 12-22-2009 05:09 PM

Sorry no 10.5".

245/45/17 was slightly stretched, so next year I'm probably going to run 255/40/17, which is the max width my SCCA class allows for anyway. A few people have brought up the idea of keeping a set of both 18x9 and 17x9's around and swapping based on what feels best, perhaps keeping a different set of tires on each if you deal with a few different surfaces.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for my wallet?) I'm not at the level where I can discern these differences yet, so that's a bit far out for me still. What I AM interested in is finding a set with more caliper clearance. I like the tire pricing on the 17's a lot more but I definitely like the look of these. I'll definitely keep them in mind if I decide on switching back to 18's :)

Endless Rotaries 12-22-2009 11:16 PM

sounds good, let me know when you're ready.

they look great.

The Reverend 12-26-2009 08:54 PM

Is the Titanium Silver the regular silver or is that an extra $$$ color?

Rotr8 12-26-2009 10:41 PM

My friend has these on his G35, with a really deep concave they look incredible, Definately a classy and aggressive wheel,,, Looks a million time better in person also,,,

ZachLegend 12-27-2009 02:26 PM

rodjonathan 12-27-2009 03:09 PM

this are going to look SICK on the 8

pdxhak 01-07-2010 01:02 AM

rishie,

Is Forgestar's flow formed process similar to how Rays does it?

kersh4w 01-07-2010 03:17 AM

im really blown about not having 17s though.

Endless Rotaries 01-11-2010 01:02 PM

The flow form process is similar to Enkei MAT process.

It is a flow formed barrel but begins as a cast piece of metal.

I'm not sure but the ray's monoblock stuff probably starts out as a press forged piece of alloy and then the barrel is flow formed. Hence the vast price difference between these wheels and the TE37's etc...

Rishie

pdxhak 01-11-2010 02:39 PM

That sounds similar to how Rays does it. My G-Games 99b are flow formed and are light and strong due to the process. BTW I did a photochop for you on 7club :)

Endless Rotaries 01-12-2010 01:15 AM

I don't believe the G Games are made the same way as the Ray's monoblock series. They are most likely more like these Forgestars and Enkei MAT.

If all else fails you can always tell by the price and I see cost so it's obvious.

Monoblock = PRESS + SPUN

Most other flow forms when "affordable" refer to CAST + SPUN BARREL.

I can't wait, we should be adding a few more people to the list within this week. Should be all RX8.

Rishie

pdxhak 01-12-2010 01:40 AM

I just know the 99b's are flow formed and assumed Rays uses the same process for their wheels. That is any wheel they produce that is flow formed. Anyway enough of the thread jack. Looking forward to seeing some members post up their pics :)

volcomx31 01-12-2010 02:52 AM

has anyone got these wheels yet? if so, can you post pics!

angeljoelv 01-17-2010 04:06 PM

Not on any rx8 that Ive seen.

Atilla 01-17-2010 05:10 PM

relax walter, when i get em' you'll see em' at every meet ;)
