Need Your Opinions (Suspension) - Ohlins or Aragosta or Bilstein (maybe cusco)

Hello to everyone who is reading this thread.
It just so happens that I am currently faced with a problem....more like making a choice actually.

I have been using the tein flex with EDFC for probably bout a year plus already and I have been feeling too much roll when I take harder corners and doesnt make me feel really confident thats why I guess like its time to upgrade.

So far these are the suspensions that I am looking at the moment,

- R-magic Ohlins / Original Ohlins

- Autoexe Aragosta / Original Aragosta

- Bilstein

* I have also decided to add cusco zero 2E as a "black horse"

I used to rate the best suspension based on the spring rate and never really thought bout the damping force and the shock absorbers.

E.g R-magic Ohlins F-8k R-5k vs Cusco Zero 2E F-8k R-6k

If someone who is not experienced in suspensions ( like me ) were to base on this info, then wouldnt that make cusco the obvious choice cause its cheaper and harder and still is a well known brand?
Something has been bugging me not to jump right into cusco just yet cause there must be a reason for the higher cost of the other brands but I cant put a finger on it.

I was wondering if anyone of the members here who have (or know of someone) who has installed any of those brands listed above in their RX8 and have any reviews, I would love to hear them and "hopefully" decide on one.

p.s. I would like to have quantums, provided if they are half priced. :hahano:

there's a group buy on KW Variants, be smart and get those

There's a group buy on Cusco 2e w/E-con going on. I think there's one left. Have you upgraded your sway bars stiffness? That should help as you've got the coiloevers setup as best as possible.

I installed ohlins about 2 weeks ago

all i can say is that those coilovers are the best suspension setups ive ever ridden with.

I copied this from my original thread

Well it's been about a week since I got my coilovers installed and I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with the complete quality in every aspect of these incredible pieces of engineering. I've been running the suspension at full soft for the past week to get every thing broken-in and the ride is actually a bit softer than stock! One aspect that has truly impressed me though is the fact that when I turn relatively hard, the body almost does not roll at all yet the suspension is softer than stock. I can truly feel every bump on the roads through the steering wheel and a bit through the seat but at full soft the bumps are quite insignificant but I can still feel every aspect. I had the RB sway bars before and the steering response was quite good but now with the coilovers, the car's ability to respond to steering inputs is quite amazing. I was driving around my neighborhood on full stiff and the ride is still not unbearable yet much harder than full soft. Duh...... On full stiff, however, there is still a fair amount of cushioning I think due to the suspension's soft spring rates. The front is only 8kg/mm while the rear is 5kg/mm. Every aspect of these coilovers is amazing and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN ANY SORT OF HIGH-END SUSPENSION! If you've got the money and you want the best, this is by far the best set-up I've ever driven.

wait until you need support or repair parts

Well I was thinking what model of the zeal is available for our car?

VarneyMazda 04-20-2007 09:45 AM

they are all good suspension. but i would probably save the cash and either get the cusco or the KW's

I have the Cusco Zero 2E with the controller. I love love love love them. The adjustable range is huge. Plus they match my car :)

AST Suspension

Another choice would be AST Suspension from Holland. They are OEM factory for Aragosta. It is one of the best factory I have seen.
