MY BC Coilover Install

I bought them through JM Auto Racing out of New York State.

They had a $100.00 coupon deal so the final price was $1013.99, shipped to my door in Winnipeg.

I'm not totally happy with the company. They told me I would receive it in a week because I ordered 5kg springs for the rear and they would need to be re-valved. It took 4 weeks to get them. I also wanted a set of extenders for the rear and they told me they were included in this kit. They were not and I had to re-order those. They said they would ship them express 3-5 business days, it has been 3 weeks and I am still waiting.

I have been delaying the install because I want to wait for the extenders but our first local autocross event is in 2 weeks, so I had to start.

Late yesterday I installed the front's and I can say that they are really nice quality.

After the install I took it for a ride and the feed back was great and the car's handling was noticeably tighter. I have to lower the front about an inch and reconnect the sway bar. I have all the parts for custom adjustable end links and have already installed my adjustable Whiteline Sway Bar.

Mazdatrix Strut Tower Brace has been ordered as the OEM brace would require removal for front end adjustments. The BC Coilover's have 30 way adjustments.

Heading to the garage soon to finish the install.

more to follow.. I will post a few pics later!

5kg rear!? thats gonna be super soft...and you could just trim the strut tower bar to clear the adjustment.

5kg is 280lbs, which is about 150% greater than stock. I am a bit concerned about going to hard, especially considering our roads are the shits, with all the frost damage we get every winter.

Actually the bar does clear, I just didn't want to cut the OEM bar, I wanted to keep it original for when/if the car goes back to stock.

If you go too low the rear is going to rub when cornering on that soft of springs.

I was planning on about 14" from center of wheel to top of wheel arch.. hope thats good...

Install complete, alignment tomorrow.

Per corner the BC coilovers are 2lbs 5oz lighter in the front and 5lbs 14oz lighter in the rear than the OEM springs with Koni Yellows.

My ride height/drop is about 13.85 inches measured from center of wheel to wheel arch.

I took the car for a quick spin, shocks on setting 5 of 30, on the soft side.

First impression very nice, and no noticeable harsh ride even on the shit pavement I took it on.

I pushed the car in a few corners to see how the car would rotate, (looking for over/under-steer) and or loss of suspension travel.

On one corner I was able to induce a little over steer but the car instantly rotated back to straight with only a slight lift of the throttle and no bottoming of the shocks. (VERY HAPPY)

The alignment comes tomorrow and then I will have the car on scales Saturday to balance it out.

First autocross event is in 1 more week and that will be the first true indicator of how good this setup is going to be.

This is where my alignment ended. I opted for zero toe at both front and rear. It was set at the max negative camber. I will have to consider other options if I decide more camber is needed.

Front
Left Right
Caster 5.69 5.91
Camber -2.11 -2.05
Toe -0.02 -0.01

Rear
Left Right
Camber -1.83 -1.82
Toe -0.02 -0.02
