Kumhos ast 235/40

Any body have experience with these tires? My brother had them on his rx8 and told me good things but honestly he only has experience with theses and nexus

So I just ordered them now getting them installed tomorrow so wondering if somebody has any personal reviews?

I ordered them 235/40/18 with my konig incident rims
Got them for 460$ plus tax

They are decent tires for a DD.

Not feeling your rim choice though personally.

Why high performance all seasons? You should have spent a little more and got summer tires, $35 more a tire would have put you into Kumho SPT in that size and its a high performance summer. These AST tires are going to be a step down in performance from the oem tires. I just don't understand putting all season tires on the RX8, it's a great way to ruin a great driving sports car.

Yea I didn't get the rims, came with the car. I just for it 1month ago,

What do u mean summer tires? Like I mentioned, the next tires available were like nexus and falken and etc
Kumhos seems the best at that time.

Are they bad or just not as good as others? Please specify

I'm sure they're good all season tires. Kumho makes a good product but they are all season tires as opposed to a high performance summer tire. All season tires make compromises so that they can be used all year round and as a result don't end up being optimal in any season. On a regular non-sports car a good all season is fine for spring, summer and fall, they're usually quiet and wear more slowly and provide decent dry and wet grip for regular commuting. On a sports car you should run high performance summer tires, not only will grip be improved but the handling of the car will also be more responsive and the RX8 will drive the way it was supposed to.
Where did you buy your tires? Why were there only very limited tire choices for you?

At a local shop, my car had a flat very close to it so I had to go there,
As far as kumhos go they only has the AST, SPT and LE
LE are the only summer and they less thread so I figured its not worth paying more for something that's not gonna last long, and same thing with the SPTs
Ast had the most thread and were the cheapest. (And were arriving fastest- for the other two I had to wait till Monday)

Well I won't really be doing any racing just a few pulls here and there...nothing serious so I think these should be fine. If any thing is the size fine? I know it's not the recommended one so is that good or bad?

The tire size is fine, according to a tire size calculator I use your speedo will read 2.234% too fast. So at 60mph your speedo will read 61.3mph.

No problem, next time when you're getting ready to purchase tires do a little research on summer tires, there are a ton from high performance to extreme performance, so you can find what best meets your needs. Read some reviews, there are a lot of reviews on this and other sports car forums, also tirerack has reviews on their website. You can even watch tire reviews on you tube.
Tires are one of the most important safety and handling features on your car, educating ones self on them is a must.
