Kumho Ecsta STP

Hey, what are some good (but relatively cheap) tires I can get for my 8? I currently have Kumho Ecsta STP's, but I was reading about them, and somebody else with an RX8 said they didnt handle as well as stock. These tires came on mine when I bought it so I dont know if they limit the performance of the RX8 or not. They right now.

Does anybody else have an opinion on these tires?

no opinion or knowledge of kumho's. i'm sure someone will chime in...

i have bfgoodrich kdw2 and they have been awesome. a little more expensive though i think, but great stick and great wear, surprising wear. road noise is kinda high though, but i am used to it.

Kumho Stone Temple Pilots!?!?

I have the Kumho SPT on my car and love them (for the price, I got my on the Tire Rack sale for $85 each, its hard to beat). My stock tires were Potenza RE040, and I think my SPT's are better in all aspects than the RE040s.

Alright, thats a good price. Ithink Ill order them sometime next week, I can get them for 125 shipped and put on at my tire shop so I will probably go with him.

yeah i read that reivew too someone recommended these Sumitomo HTR Z III and they're cheaper and better rated than the kumho's.

I have the Kuhmo Ecsta SPT. They seem to be slightly quieter than the stock tires. Handling, cornering and track is just as good. I'm not sure about wet weather yet, we've not had much (if any) rain in awhile. I'm pleased with them.

In a recent testing at tirerack.com the Sumitomo HTR Z III's came in first.

These will likely be the next tires I buy.

I have Kumhos on there now (ASXs I think), and I have always been very happy with them. Every car I have owned has ran one set of Kumhos or another.

My only concern is that the Sumitomo HTR Z III might not last as long as a Kumho SPT. I don't really know the answer to that question.

PS -- Consider 245/40/18s if you arent already considering doing so!

I had one set of the Potenza RE040 which were not as quiet, did not last as long and lousy in the wet.
I am on my third set of Kumho's and like them much better and they may last me longer if I drove like a sane human being. (words from the wife).

the spt kumhos are geat tires for the street.

and do really well in the rain.. i have killed two sets..

now if you are a hard core auto crosser or a level 3 track guy they are not for you.. but if you were that you would have never asked the question..

for street driving. great tire, great value..

beers

I'm looking to get new tires and I've narrowed it down between the Kumho SPT, the Falken 452, and BF Goodrich G Sport.

I don't take it to the track but I drive pretty hard around town sometimes. I'm hoping to get something at least a little better than the stock Potenza's.

Any suggestions between these 3? (or otherwise)

Also, should I stick with the original size (225/45-18) or switch to something else? I am not looking to change anything else except the tire. Why should I consider 245/40/18s according to mspeedpro?

Thanks for the help.
