How to sand and paint rims?
I wanted to paint a set of aftermarket rims and I was wondering what's a good way to do it. A couple of the rims have a lot of scratches on them too, so I wanted to sand it down and repair it. There's no bend, just rashes.
I don't know if it matters, but I wanted to paint the lip and the center, different colors. Any help or recommended paint/spraypaint to do this? Is it even safe to sand down the sides? TIA |
get them done right: powdercoat

It's not really nice rims. It's a set of cheapo, I wanted to paint it black with a neon green lip. I know, but I just wanted to know what's it gonna look like. lol

Any info on how to sand it? Would bondo work on wheels?

You don't need to sand aluminum afaik.
If you were going to, I suggest using a very fine paper, maybe even coarse scotch bright. |
One of the wheels really is ruffed up bad though. I need to sand of some of the excess. I thought I needed to sand the wheels to spray primer on it of else the paint wouldn't stick.

Oh i think I remember someone taking off the stock paint color. I cant remember who, but it was really cheap and looked really good even without painting. It should work on aftermarket also.
