go with hks, you won't regret it...
|
tien flex aren't even monotubes...they're cheap for a reason.
I've always liked HKS, even before I got my rx8. I've bought alot of their parts, and never once been dissapointed, not even about the price. now I just need to get them to sponsor me lol |
me too, i need to get sponsored by them too!
|
wats HKS mean? ( sorry off topic)
|
|
The HKS RSs arent height adjustable are they?
|
HKS stands for the 3 founders of the company:
H-Hasegawa, as in Hiroyuki Hasegawa. K-Kitagawa, as in Goichi Kitagawa. S- Sigma, as in Sigma Automotive Company, Ltd. Hasegawa and Kitagawa formed the company with the assistance of capital infusion from Sigma Automotive, hence the name HKS... |
Yes the RS's are height adjustable, the dampening can be adjusted as well.
|
^ diddo on what deedubb said
|
Height adjustments on the RS affect spring preloads though right?
|
i was also thinking of these two coilovers and i heard many good stuff about the hks :)
but then again... tein has the edfc... hmm... |
edfc is just for convenience. its not a necessity. just pop the hood or the trunk and change it.

the tein flex are not poor quality by any means. id say both companies make great products and your choice will mainly depend on your purpose and budget. both are streetable and trackable. unless you race competitively, you wont likely notice a big difference in handling. furthermore, if you dont race competitively, monotube should not be a big factor in your decision since you likely wont even notice that either.\
if this is mainly for street with some track time, either Tein Flex or HKS Hipermax RS or Hipermax II will be fine. comparing these objectively, i believe the Flex cost a little less, and also have higher spring rates than both HKS sets |

I am probably going with the Hipermax RS's for my next round of modifications on my car. Because I just haven't done enough to it yet.
|
thanks :p its all g
i am wondering though, how important do you think the spring preload adjustment is? the tein flex have this, but i notice many of the top coilovers like HKS, FEED, RE Amemiya, all do not. also wondering, how is the ride "comfort" for daily driving between Tein Flex, HKS Hipermax RS, and Hipermax II? |
I got another question,I hav heard that the hypermax II is make for the Japan only. That's why they don't hav it on US HKS web site...Is that True???If it is ture, will they perfect fit on US RX8???

My question is how does corner balancing with the RSs affect the preload/performance? |

I hope this helps! :) |

My question is how does corner balancing with the RSs affect the preload/performance? also, it was my understanding that Hipermax II also do not have the shock body adjustment so adjusting the height and preload will also affect each other... |
Don't worry, the Hipermax RS is designed to go as low as -72mm Front & -80mm Rear (from stock height). Not even Lazi or XDEEDUBBX's car is set-up that low! hahaha FYI- They come preset from the HKS factory at -47mm Front & -33mm Rear.
|
Here's a side pic of my car, it's not set too low but there's still plenty of play:
