help with wheel size and tire size

i am looking at one 2nd hand wheel and tires

the wheels are 18" offset is 42+

and the tire is 225/40/18

will this fit and what the mind problem with this wheel and tire on the rx8?

L8APEX 11-16-2005 06:30 AM

those tires will be a slightly smaller diamter, which will affect your speedo readout, but only a little bit. make sure the bolt pattern is the right one for your car on the second hand wheels.

toca 11-16-2005 06:46 AM

how wide r they

redish 8 11-16-2005 03:58 PM

so the offset is ok? coz this offset is 42 and the OE is 45 right?

so the rim will be a bit out?

the bolt is 5 X 114.3 so it should be fine

Toca what do you mean how wide? the rim or the tire?

L8APEX 11-16-2005 04:03 PM

IIRC, OE offset is +50. That was what was listed on one of the wheels websites as stock for the 8. That could be wrong, but that is what was listed.

so but 42+ offset now it that ok foe the car?? any effect to the car?

canaryrx8 11-16-2005 05:09 PM

stock= 18x8 +50

+42 will be fine, you should try and stay with the same width as well, 7.5 or 7 will impact your handling to a degree.

redish 8 11-16-2005 07:46 PM

oh yes the it is 18 X 7.5

so it should be fine

toca 11-17-2005 06:55 AM

my front on my car have a 43+ offset with 8.5 u should be ok

toca 11-17-2005 06:55 AM

dont puta 7.5 on your car u will be down grading pleaze dont waste your money. eeven if there r free dony put them on. those are hondas and shit dont put them on a rx8 of sport car for that matter

redish 8 11-17-2005 03:40 PM

isn't it the stock one is 7.5?

coz i just want a rims and tire for winter..so....

dannobre 11-17-2005 07:18 PM

Will be OK for winter wheels....

RA-Eight 11-17-2005 10:19 PM

6-speed stock is 8". For winter, you will be fine. For my winter set-up I have 17x8 +35et and I haven't experienced any rubbing.

RX4life 11-18-2005 08:01 AM

if you are gettng them for free and need them for winter thats perfectly.. fine ... im using my stockers for the 3 months of winter ..

42 offset .. will fit with ease.. i am running 30 in the back and 35 in the front... ( need to roll the rears ASAP, major rubbing) but i love the crazy look, with the coilovers slammed.....
