Help on tire size with set of wheels
 

Hey guys, I am really liking the 57Maximum Gram Lights and I will probably purchase them soon. I have a question though. The tire size recommendation on tirerack for these is a 225/45-18, but correct me if I'm mistaken isn't that the tire size on the stock wheels? Since the gram lights are 8.5's instead of 8's, would that not be the correct tire size? Is anyone able to shed some light on this?

there is no 'correct' tire size. only recommended. 225/45/18 will fit fine on a 8.5 inch wheel. i'd recommend 245/40/18 though, it's the typical size people here use for an 8.5.

Is there any danger in stretching the stock size tire over an 18.5" wheel? Or does it look out of proportion with the wheel

on a 8.5" rim i'd go with a 255/40. 225s seem a little stretched on 8s, 245s fit perfectly. so i'd bump the tire size up a little if the rim increased a half inch.

get 255/40/18 toyo proxes t1rs. :)
