Help with sway bars and endlinks
Hi, im looking at upgrading the sway bars and end links on my 04. while looking at different brands I noticed that the end links can be fixed or adjustable. in the description of the adjustable ones it says "perfect for stock ride height or lowered vehicles." do the coil overs on lowered vehicles rub on the stock or non adjustable end links
planned on racing beat bars and either rb end links or ap end links, I will be lowering with stance coil overs or bc racing in the near future thanks for anyone's help |
No rubbing on fixed end links. Adjustable end links are for corner balancing your car if you're on adjustable coilovers. The adjustability let's you ensure the sway bar is not preloading the suspension.
If you want to just set it and forget it, get fixed. If you like tinkering and screwing around with your suspension like me, then get adjustable :P |
Also check out the adjustable anti-sway bars on the market. Here are a few:
Progress Technology Agency Power (same as Progress, only white) Tanabe Whiteline |
Progress Tech sways are the business. I love mine.

I have the Agency Power bars, but only because the Progress bars were out of stock at the time. Agency Power has Progress manufacture the bars for them, so they are essentially the same. Only difference is the paint. |
ok, thanks for clearing that up flyinglizard. ive seen the adjustable bars before, not sure exactly how they work. is it stiffer on the first set of holes and less on the last set?
sorry im not very tech savy Posted From RX8Club.com Android App |

Adjustable end links is a good idea.
I got these RX8: Suspension - Sway Bars: Adjustable Sway Bar End Links (10mm Studs) - Front - 06-10 MX-5/04-11 RX8 - They make it easy to set up without preloading the suspension, especially if you use different holes on each side. Turns out my original ones were worn, because of a lot of noise went away when I installed these. Also, my car seems to be other than perfectly level, this allowed me to adjust and attach without having to flex the bar. |
Is it that much harder to install the new bar with fixed end links. Thinking about the agency power bar now

Both can be done. If you have an adjustable bar, say front, that has 3 holes on each side, it has 5 stiffness positions. If you want other than symmetric locations, you could have to flex the bar, or the car, a bit to make them line up. It is easier if you can make the link a bit longer, but not much. You can also use the adjustable feature on the links to preload sides of the car to balance it, but that is beyond me.
