Hawk new "Streetrace" Pads
 

Anyone running these pads for track and HPDE? Do you know the Hawk part numbers for front/rear? I check on their website and they only show up for me the HP+, 5.0...etc... but nothing on the new "Streetrace" ones.

Any information would be appreciated

I recall a subie friend of mine called Hawk and they said that the compound is the equivalent to the DTC-30s. That was close to a year ago though, so my memory is a little fuzzy...

I am pretty sure that Hawk took the DTC-30, gave it a chamfer, added a wear indicator and nicer backing plates, and called it the Street/Race. If you look at their brake pad compound charts that plot temperature and Mu, you see that the S/R just took the 30's place.

I had them on my car for much of last year. I bought two or three sets. I did not find that they stood up to track use and eventually switched to the DTC-60. It is possible that some of my behavior was to blame. I was especially hard on brakes last year.

If you get the S/R pad hoping that it'll be less annoying on the street, that was not my experience at all. It's not quite as dusty as the 60, but it still makes a mess and is catastrophically noisy.

I have some DTC30 pads for track use . They seemed to start breaking up after the first track day

my hawk blues are also a bit "crumbly"? looking after a few weekends. they haven't started falling apart, but there are hairlines cracks in the friction material. I usually have great experiences with Hawk. but perhaps i bedded them improperly...

Have any of you tried the Hawk HP+ for comparison sake? A few of the local RX8 guys HPDE with them and said they hold up well since the factory RX8 brakes are pretty good.

Chiming in on an old thread for information sake. I am running the street/race pads for track/hpde use and they work great. I tried the HP+ since I came out of a Miata and the HP+ were great for that car, but for the speed and braking ability of the 8, I cooked them in less than a day.

I stepped up to the street/race for better temp ranges and it has been very good. They have the bite of the Blues but they come in to their temp range sooner. So on a cool morning before the brakes are warm, they still bite; which also makes them reasonable on the street. Been on them for 6 events (Autobahn x2, Road America, Grattan, Gingerman, and Blackhawk) and there is still pad left and they are not breaking down. Plus they get some mileage on the street.

Obviously they are not as bitey as the DTC-60 but they are not an all-out race pad either... Just my experience. Hope it may help someone else.

I used a couple sets of these. I found them to be very hard on rotors, very noisy, to wear quickly, and to lack midrange modulation. Initial bite is very good--sometimes too good.

I would call them a good, inexpensive track pad, when mated to the right tires and used on the right track.

I have since switched to Carbotech, which I greatly prefer. They are much more linear, are gentle to rotors, and last nearly twice as long. They are also quieter.
