Happy with everything about my car apart from my fitment and drop etc
So that was one of the first things i did was get the tein s techs. I know am going to get coilovers and get the drop right. I have my equipment with me most of the time and its in my car 80% of the time in the back passenger seat so that side is always a bit lower. As you can see here
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8182/7...5de849b1_b.jpg my wheels are 19x9.5 with a 42 offset and my tires are 245/35/19. here is the drivers side http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8042/7...0a6dc11c_b.jpg and the fitment http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8456/7...7b0c466e_b.jpg and here is the passenger side fitment http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8452/7...5e63a7b5_b.jpg as you can see the wheels are pretty tucked in and it looks lame i think. So once i get my new coilovers do i just get spacers and if so can anyone recommned what size to get so it looks nice and flush almost to the fender. |
Get 25mm spacers all around and slam that bitch :)
|
Looks good A.Mair ;)
|
Thanks Monchie. I am gonna start with spacers. But not 26mm obviously
|
how much lower are you planning to go?
|
Looks good to me......:dunno:
But then again......I don't understand the hellaflush craze. |
I guess i only really want to go 0.5 inches lower
|
You will not need 25mm spacers.
25mm gets the stock (18x8 +50) looking flush. There is a dedicated "will it fit" sticky that has the info you need, in order to get the proper suggestions |

Alright, and we should meet up and have a club meet soon. |
I have Volk GTS (not mounted yet) in the same specs in the rear as you but with a +35 offset and they sit flush. If they were a +32 they would still fit fine depending on your height. I would say a 10mm spacer would get you were you want to be. I will have a set of 10mm spacers available soon. But keep in mind you may need longer wheel studs depending on what type of spacer you use.
GOOD Coilovers with good springs should help with your weight sagging issue. BTW, your car is still one of my all time favorite RX-8's. Oh, and never take any car advice from Monchie. |
A. Mair, the car is looking GOOD, congrats.
The only suggestion I have is to consider a rear bumper as your front and sides sit SOO much lower then the rear aero pieces. It's quite noticeable in the side shot of your car. the wheels are a little sunken in but nothing a small sized spacer can't fix. Oh, and don't go hella-retarded-flush. :) |
Honestly,
I think it looks fine the way it is. I'm not really a fan of hellaflush though. |
Typically i would advocate some number specs and lowering procedures for your car but honestly, i really really like your car as it is.
Yes it can be viewed as a lil' high n' yeah the wheels might be considered a lil tucked but to slam it n' go towards the more super flush would risk a great deal of damage to a seemly flawless car. If you carry equipment in your car and daily it on some nasty roads you might run into some "LOWERED CAR PROBLEMS" :banghead: Personally, i'd HATE to see that happen to a Knight Sport front. Imo, if you're not gonna be swayed any other way tho, i'd say strap on some 15mm spacers w/stud extensions, make sure those fenders are rolled flat n' do some light rear fender tab shaving. Coilovers, maybe drop like .5" at full stiff if carrying equipment. Same tire specs.

p.s. - keep my front bumper in good condition until I get it. I can't have you slamming it on the pavement around town. |
Your car is basically level. The styling has the rear fender wheel openings coming down lower than on the front. Level is best determined by measuring the distance from the pinch welds or rocker panels to the ground. Agreed though, it looks better with some foward rake (wheel to fender distance even).
