Hankook Ventus K101 V12 tire pressure
 

Hi guys,

Just curious what you other guys with V12's are running for tire pressure on the street?

I had read this tire should be run on high pressure.

I just installed a new set recently.

I'm currently running 38PSI all around on 245/45/17's, The ride doesnt seem harsh at all. Performance is ok (from what I can tell on the street, which isnt much).

It feels like It could take a few PSI more to stiffen them up or a few PSI less to make sure I'm using the whole contact patch.

Anyways, I'm just curious about others experience with this great tire.

BTW, I have track experience and I know its completely different on the track, I'm asking about street pressure.

In my experience, i always put 40psi on my tires, any size, any brand. Anyway, the tire should have the tire recommendation on how much air you could put in it, written on the sidewall of all tires, right? It should be there.

That's the max air pressure recommended by the manufacturer, not the recommended pressure for every-day use.

OP, what are you looking to optimize? Treadwear, performance, comfort...?

If you're looking to optimize treadwear, why not just mark your tires across the tread and see how they wear? More wear in the center, too much pressure. More wear on the shoulders, too little pressure.

You can use white shoe polish, crayon, chalk, anything that stands out.

I thought about marking them, its what I used to do when lapping on the track, I just thought it wouldnt be that effective on the street. I guess I'll give it a try.

I guess performance is my main goal, even on the street.

I have them at 38psi right now and they are comfortable enough. At 245/45/17 its comfortable enough compared to 245/40/18 used to be.

As for treadwear, If they can last 2 summers of normal driving or 1 full one if I decide to do some track, then I'll be happy.

BTW, the max PSI on the tire is 50, which is higher than usual I think, which is why I had a good impression that they should be run higher.

For now at 38 its seems they seem to be performing great. But then again, I havent pushed them more than 15% of their capacity on the street...

Great response! This is soo helpful. I have tires with max 50 psi per tire. I have 34 psi in each tire. They are Winter tires right now.
I am looking more for traction in the Winter, obviously, so should I bump them up to 40 psi?
Also, for Summer tires. Max 50psi, how much air would you put in them so you get the best traction for both dry and wet conditions?

Monchie is a dumbass. There is no reason to have tires inflated to 40 psi.

Okay? Should I just follow the recommended tire pressure, Max 50 psi, and put 45 psi in them? Or is 34 psi a good pressure?

2.2bar\32psi is ok for daily use.
Only an idiot would run at over 3.1bar\45psi.

Wonder why it doesn't surprise me to see monchie running at 2.7bar...

I ran my 18's at 34, they did fine. If you track the, add at least 5 psi or they will roll over.

Thanks 04Green! No track here! :) I'm at 34 psi. It's what's on the door tag and my traction and handling is great! No need to increase the psi's for now...unless I find a track! Zoom-Zoom!:ylsuper:
