Instead of getting them painted, you should just get them powdercoated. It will be a little more expensive but the powdercoating will hold up a lot better than paint, especially because it is the rims where a lot of debris hits.
Just search around for powdercoating shops and look for the best price. Shouldnt be more than $200 for all four. |
Get them powdercoated at Embee in the OC. Great facility, upstanding, and great quality/service... $60/wheel. I've had tons of my Porsche parts done there.
And trust me, powdercoating is way cheaper than a properly done paint job... I used to be an investor in an bodyshop, I'd know. To hand-sand a wheel, paint, clear, and rub by hand, you'd be looking at $1k and up. Yes, some shops can do it for cheaper, but when it comes to painting, you get what you paid for. Having said that, a properly cared for paint finish on a wheel lasts perfectly fine. I've had more than a few sets painted, and the set on my FX are over 3 yrs old... still mirror-like finish. With paint, you can achieve a smoother finish than can ever be possible with powdercoating. GL... EDIT: Here's the paint finish off of my M Coupe (sold). http://1stephen1.com/cars/mcoupecsl/images/DSC03700.jpg |
