Gauging Interest: 5mm & 20/25mm Hubcentric Spacers!

Let's keep this one short and sweet. I have been a part of a spacer project for quite some time and would soon like to possibly offer the brand to RX8Club. The spacers are high quality; I have been a part of the R&D process all the way from the initial design and revisions to testing. At the moment, I am not going to release any more information; that will come in due time. *Disclaimer: These spacers are a unique project and not associated with any other companies I work with*

I would like to start out with offering two sizes - 5mm & 20mm or 25mm (still TBD) specifically for the RX8 application. These will be high quality hubcentric spacers with an extended hubcentric lip, anodized base and pressed in extended studs when applicable. Other sizes can be offered at special request. More details will be released here if they hit this market but assume pricing to be highly competitive.

So, who would be interested in picking up some high quality, low cost spacers? Direct customer support from yours truly, competitive pricing, and available for purchase directly from your favorite forum :wavey:

mmmm craving less offset?? any idea on prices?

I am looking for wheel spacers very soon. This would be perfect timing if you could get it set up by the end of the month. Looking for 25mm so I don't ahve to worry about OEM stud lengths.

This was my main concern; I know 25mm has the wheels sitting flush, but may cause some light rubbing under certain conditions. Were the 20mm deemed too small for the OEM studs, requiring modification?

MMeglen 10-12-2011 02:16 PM

In the thread with somebody talking of the 25mm being flush, i'm pretty sure he stated the 20mm would need to be trimmed down.

edit: post 95 in that thread shows a picture of factory studs sticking out a couple milimeters with 25mm spacers. sorry i can't link, work computer sucks...

tiltmode43 10-12-2011 02:20 PM

That's what I gathered as well. Regardless, I'll still leave this thread up for a response :wavey:

a actually am looking for 5mm up front for my 360 wheels. I planed on anodizing black to hide.

Concerning 25mm for stockers on my car with Tein S Techs and 245/40-18 tires, I never had any real rubbing issues, the rears rubbed slightly with people in the back over speed bumps or steep declines.

For me, I am running 10mm now.

LGukas 10-15-2011 01:18 PM

I would be interested in 5mm spacers. I think that's gonna look good with 18"x 8.5 +30 wheels and 255/35/18 tires.

Thanks for the feedback everyone :)

LOL!

That's pretty funny, silly google ads. To be completely honest, the RX8 community is such a niche market for this sort of thing, it's not something that would be financially ideal. To me, the idea is to try to help fellow RX8 owners run quality parts purchased at a fair and reasonable price.

So many ebay products can be sketchy and spacers with extended studs certainly fall in this category. The studs themselves are a primary concern, as this is what holds the wheels on. I know the studs I will be using will be OEM or OEM equivalent; no nonsense parts.

Twiztog43 10-15-2011 09:09 PM

i might be interested in the 5mm for the rears. my 8x8.5 +20 rear doesnt seem flush enough.

after the roll and pull not to mention the coilovers i got from you tilt, made the rears tuck in a bit more!

SayNoToPistons 10-15-2011 09:55 PM

If you can source some 20mm or 25mm hub centric spacers with proper grade studs for a competitive price; damn right I would be in.

iemdan 12-15-2011 09:25 AM

Bump, is this going to happen? I'm looking for 5mm spacers. Does that require extended studs?

tiltmode43 12-15-2011 12:38 PM

This is still in the works, but got set back a bit. 5mm is generally considered okay on OEM studs but different cars do have different factory stud lengths; a quick measure will help determine the maximum safe spacer length on OEM studs.

Thank you for the bump!

Jake33 12-15-2011 01:50 PM

am deff interested in 20mm w/studs! good luck!:icon_tup:

Sifu 12-15-2011 01:58 PM

You know I still want those 25mm Matt :)

TeamRX8 12-15-2011 04:53 PM

I would not recommend more than 3mm -1/8" on the factory studs

tiltmode43 12-15-2011 05:49 PM

Team, would you happen to know how many turns you get using a 5mm slip on with factory studs?

I will be doing some measurements but know that 6-6.5 turns would be recommended for use on our 12x1.5 thread pitch.

TeamRX8 12-15-2011 06:09 PM

1/8" was my personal limit way back when. I have the long ARP race studs now so I can easily use a 25mm studless spacer if I wanted to (do not want, lol). Generally speaking you'd want no less than the diameter of the stud for nut engagement. I'd be especially concerned about not having enough thread engagement with low offset wheels, which I never ran on.

12/1.5 = 8 turns minimum

.

ZouRx8 12-15-2011 11:05 PM

I've been interested in a set of 20mm spacers to get more of that flush look. I'm just concerned I might have issues with rubbing. Currently have 2.0" drop in front and 1.5" drop in rear with stock wheel and tire size. (guess i could adjust height if I have fitment issues)

Can't wait to order a pair for myself!!

monchie 12-16-2011 07:40 PM

From the look of your car, i don't think it will rub the fenders.

Chad D. 12-16-2011 07:54 PM

I'm interested in a set of 25's and 5's.

tiltmode43 12-16-2011 10:47 PM

These spacers will be hubcentric @ 67.1 so will be a good option for our car, as well as Evo's. Within the design I want to sneak in some sort of rotary inspired logo. Hopefully I will have a product to show you all soon! This project is growing to a higher priority, so things will move along much quicker.

Also, Team - Interesting, I was taught that 8 turns would be a the proper engagement for a 12x1.25 thread pitch. To finalize things, I'll be testing things out myself and recording accordingly. Thank you for your perspective though, your thoughts are always welcomed :beerchug:

Stay tuned everyone! :wavey:
