Frozen caliper piston

Not much info searching the board.

I had a frozen caliper piston on the front right caliper. It took quite a bit of effort to remove it. I was very careful not to rip the boot. I cleaned the piston with 220 grit sandpaper and cleaned out hole it goes in to with a paper towel. I applied some all purpose grease and reassembled the caliper.

Should I have used a rebuild kit? A different lubricant?

Ahh, you're talking about a caliper slide bolt...what you should have done was clean out the slide hole on the caliper as well with something like PB Blaster. Then, lube up the slide and the hole with caliper lube...should be good to go then.

Thanks. I apologize if I list the incorrect parts.

I have no idea what PB Blaster but I will google it :)

Is all purpose grease ok to use on the slide bolt?

Might be better to use some high temp grease, you can find it at any auto store for a couple bucks. Had the same thing happen to me. Cleaned the caliper hole with pb blaster and a wire brush, used the high temp grease and so far so good. I also had to buy a new bolt since the rubber thingi at the end just ripped.
