Front grill help

I took my 04 rx8 into the body shop today to finally get a crease taken out of the front bumper that has been bugging the heck out of me for the last month. Unfortunatley I did crack the front grill mesh. The shop told me this piece deals with the structural integrity of the front bumper and just putting a mesh grill insert in it's place will not work. Has anyone removed this factory plastic grill and inserted the mesh and have you had any problems with it flexing over time?

Your better off posting this on the series 1 section since it deals with your model year but to answer your question it will not cause problems with your bumper if you get a mesh grill insert and again I wouldn't do that. I would either get the factory or RE Amemiya, KightSoprts, Odulas, or even Leg Motor Sport ones. It's all about your preference.

the grill attaches to your chin (if you have the chin that runs along the bottom) which in turn attaches to your radiator undertray. With that being said it probably wouldn't fall off but you will not have any center support. Lots of air will be pushing that down!

^ Exactly, I have my grill removed with a mesh grill in place. My center supports are now zip ties.
