found on tirerack

Found these rims, the look decent (Yes I know they are a knockoff, but I am not racing just want the look.

MSW Type 12 Machined w/ Black Accent

18x8 +45mm offset

I like the price, the look. But I bought some rims off of Wheels Next, and the polish on them didn't last a year, and ended up looking like crap. Has anyone had wheels from this company, and would these fit my car?

they would fit your car yes. they are alright. your 8 is black right? it would look pretty good i think. however if i was going to buy aftermarket rims, i would get a 35+ offset to make the wheels flush with the fenders.

Blackout04RX 01-25-2009 05:15 PM

yeah thats what I was thinking about when I looked at the offset. Sounded kind of high. From what I have read on posts is that 35mm offers the best look

Blackout04RX 01-25-2009 08:07 PM

I was told to check out Tenzo Type M Version 2's, but I cant find anything about offsets for them. Just that thes either 18x8 or 19x8.5. Anyone know where I can find this out?

there are plenty of pictures of my 8 on my myspace (its public) here

also, i have 18x9.5 sportmaxx 006 with 35+ offset. i love the way they stick out. i run 245/40/18 and i am lowered on tein s-techs. i do not rub at all.

i love the way your wheels look on your 8

also i would look for something with a +35 offset also if your only running a 18x8 thats what i have and mine are really close to flush with the fender

TopGear8 01-25-2009 10:31 PM

Don't get those wheels, they will look bad on your 8.

Blackout04RX 01-25-2009 10:53 PM

I want the 35mm offset, but I don't know what the rim I am looking at has for offset, I can't find anyone that will share that information. And in regards to TopGear8, I have seen many 8s with rims similar to that, and it looked good. I think on the Brilliant Black, it would look hot. I just need the info. I won't buy anything without the info. Tenzo Type M Version 2. Anyone with the rest of the specs on these? It's either 18s or the 19s but I need info to find out if itll work since I plan on lowering the ride too

I guess its a personal preference, but I think those wheels are hideous looking. Beyond the basic gross look of the rim other problems include:

- the offset is too high
- they are too heavy
- they are too narrow

Blackout04RX 01-26-2009 06:33 AM

I wrote off the set with the link. I am thinking about a diff set, so I think we are on diff pages. the offset on the tirerack set pictured above is out. The tenzo looks totally diff

This is the one I wanted more, but I can't find offset info. I am thinking about doing the 19x8.5 but can't get the specifics on offset and whatnot.

thejew89 01-26-2009 10:02 AM

heres the specs on the tenzo wheels you like

the tenzo's look a lot better than the first wheel...

Blackout04RX 02-02-2009 02:55 AM

jew89, thanks for the info, that is very very sad that the offset is that high.... on a 19x8.5, i couldnt rock that and lower it, the wheel would prolly rub like a bastard, and stick out from the fenders

Blackout04RX 02-02-2009 02:57 AM

But my Q is, looking at the 18x8... it has an option for a 37mm offset, that sounds like it would work. But I have never heard of a 37. I've heard of 35. 40. 47... no 37. if I am merely mistaken, wonderful, I'll have found the rims to buy in the spring...

Offsets are all different sizes. The +37 18*8 wheel is probably your best bet for fitment and flushness without rubbing. What I would suggest is to find wheels that you like the fitment on, then use an offset calculator to find out at what offset will other widths give you the same look.

For example:

I like the way an 18*9.5 +38 looks. Knowing that, I can use the calculator below to find out what an 18*8 needs as an offset to stick out that far. I find that the 18*8 wheels need a +19mm offset to stick out as far as the 18*9.5 wheel fitment that I like.

Keep in mind that you might have to make some compromises if you want a certain wheel since manufacturers won't usually do custom offsets. Also keep in mind that the same wheel can have different faces being either more concave or less depending on the widths and offsets (Work Emotion, 5Zigen FN01RC). The same thing goes with having more or less lip on a wheel, it just depends on the style of the wheel itself.

The wheel I am looking at does not have a lip, so thats not a factor. I don't like the lip look, its a show thing not really a racing thing. Also, since 35mm seems to work so well with alot of peoples car, I think a 37mm should be fine.
