Fat nail through my tire

Question Fat nail through my tire

I dont understand how this couldve happend? A nail when right through my tire. look at where the nail went in, the stock wheel covers that spot. anyone have an explanation? They told me they cant repair the tire.

Yah that tire is fooked. I can't tell too well what happened from the photos.

Yeah. The tire is gone. You can't repair it if the nail is in the side wall.

Very true. A mech at a gas station I worked at tried for some old lady. The tire ended up blowing and he lost most of his fingers and split his leg wide open and lost almost all hearing. Only reason he lived is because the building next to the gas station is a hospital. Don't F with compromised sidewalls.

i have a stock sized used tire with a fair amount of thread on it if someone needs it.

25 plugs in one tire or over a life time? I would imagine the structurally integrity would be severely compromised with that many plugs...

Couple of years ago I took a flat to the tire store and he called me at the office to ask if I had been shot at. He thought a bullet went through the tire and the wheel. I heard a loud thwapping sound when it happened and I think I ran over a long bolt or rod and it went throught both the tire and the wheel although I never found it. I had to have the wheel welded. I wonder if it was a 9mm or a .45 bolt?

how is this not repairable and it doesnt look like it went through the sidewall.

oh through the sidewall and tread, wow i thought it was just through middle and pointing in the middle.

yea so now im thinking about getting some general tires off tire rack because theyre affordable and they have a a $50 visa gift card by mail. my potenzas are almost done anyways.
