Enkei Lovers: Are These "NTO3's" Fake?
2 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to do my due diligence before buying a set of "NT03's" from a seller on Craigslist. They look pretty close, but I've noticed that they only have one valve stem, the lip looks to be simplified, and so does the area recessed for the studs. All of these are features are incongruent from the current NT03+M. I'm hoping the wheelwhores around here might be able to tell me if these are knock-offs or good to go. The history of Enkei wheels is a little out of my element.
This is a link to the wheels in question: Enkei NT03 17x8 Wheels - $750 (Liberty Township) And one pic: https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...8&d=1359301622 Page for the current NT03+M: Enkei Wheels - Racing Series Wheels - NT03+M And one pic: http://www.enkei.com/images/race-series/nt03-large.jpg Thanks to everyone for your input.:beer05: |
The first pic has 10 spokes, the bottom has 12.

Doing a google images search shows that all the nt03 have the more intricate hub face like the second pic you posted. None have a smooth hub face like the ones for sale. And the 12 spokes as pointed out already. Id say they are fake.

I didn't even notice the spoke count, but I did mention the recession for the studs (or hub.) I wasn't sure if these could be an older model. I'm not opposed to older wheels as long as they are of high quality. I'm glad I didn't make the seller an offer. Thanks guys!:beer05:

guaranteed. the new design is concave, which is what i believe the +M stands for. |
That's actually pretty cool. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be buying garbage wheels that look like Enkei's. It's great to have access to so much knowledge on here :D:
I think I'll take a look at these. |
I know it's almost 2 years later, but I figured I would reply. I somehow stumbled upon this thread, and these are actually my wheels. I posted that ad. and I still have the wheels if interested. As I wrote in the ad, they are the older, much more rare style of NT03. They are absolutely real, and I would have provided you with evidence of the enkei stamps on the wheel if you would have contacted me. I know it's a stretch, but if youre still interested, I still have these wheels, and they actually all have new tires on now.

Wow!!! What are the chances of that!!! Are you a detective? :)

But honestly, if anyone is interested in them, or knows anyone who would be, please feel free to let me know and I would be happy to provide more info. Really wanna get rid of this to move on to other things. |
Post up the info again. The ad is dead

Yeah, I remember those wheels. I think I determined that the offset wouldn't work on my car without using spacers?? It was quite a while back, so I may be remembering incorrectly. I ended up having a half dozen OEM wheels powder coated for my RX-8 (in case I damage one or two - I have backup wheels in the same color) so I don't really have use for the wheels. It's too bad, too. I do like them, and I think they would look great on a car with some curves in the body. Good luck with your sale!
Also - please understand that this thread wasn't created to insult you, but to get a completely impartial opinion from my peers on this forum. |

Here you go brother. I did have to up the price a bit, because of the $700 worth of new tires. But hell, it's still such a good deal. I hate letting them go for cheap but my desire for bigger, better things is driving me to do so. Thanks for your interest! |
