Hey Guys,
Cant really help with some of the other links being broken but here is a list of the new links to the Miata forums concerning wheel weight. http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=40082 |
Lots of the links above are dead. :(
|
Sorry, I posted the link because the Miata forum links all seem to work (and don't in previous links). However yes it's true a number of the other links are still broken.

Well the C6 Z06 is about 150 pounds heavier than a RX8 GT... Not much.

Currently i have a staggered setup with heavy rims running 9.5 on the rears and i believe 8.5 or 9 on the front. Im looking to switch to some rotas that would be 9.5 all the way around with a +30 offset. Would it be beneficial to switch? Its a street car and i do about 6-8 autox a year. With the staggered setup the car does not handle like it use to but im worried by switching to fat rims on all 4's i wont be helping...

You guys obviously have everything wrong, It is 100% possible to add wheel weight AND improve your performance without spending extra money on horsepower modifications.
The only thing you will have to do is take the race vertical, preferably STRAIGHT OFF A CLIFF... Your car will do it's; Fastest 0-60 time Quickest quarter mile Quickest half mile Quickest mile (Grand Canyon) AND possibly reach terminal velocity, where it will no longer go faster... ...But only once. Meaning you will probably have to spend more money getting a new car, if you survive the inevitable meeting with the ground.;) "It's no the fall that kills you, but the sudden stop at the end" (I don't know who originally stated that quote) |

appears that half or more of the links on the first page are now dead.. Great sticky post but kind of obsolete. Someone may want to make a new version of this thread?

Ahh, that Nissan. That car feels so heavy I think of it as the first sports car in history with a 60/50 weight distribution. I think the current model retro american muscle cars are not much better. Seriously, I recently test drove an RX-8 and now I want one to replace my aging 1999 BMW M3. It felt much lighter and nimbler than my M3. I went silly fast on the test drive on a twisty section and the RX-8 was not even breaking a sweat. I am exited to put on my snow tires in a month or so. Why? Because the wheels and tires for my snows are much lighter than my summer setup and it does make a huge difference. Too bad the snow tires do not have great dry traction and would disintegrate if I really tried to use it. |
U mean 70/30?

The independent suspension on the RX8 is simply outstanding & I believe far better than the Z. Not that the Z isnt a great car with a great V6 engine, it is.

I recently aquired an RX8 Automatic (imported) I am trying to find out what the max wheel size is that can be fitted. I know that it can take 19" rims but what is the max width, front and rear. I have spoken with Mazda Uk, but because it is an import they are having to get a reply from Japan and that is taking time. Anyone know the answer.
