EBC yellow stuff review
 

After a disappointing experience with EBC Reds (lack of braking power and fading on a the track) I was sent a full set of yellowstuff by EBC. I installed them with new rotors all around and a fluid bleed.

I broke them in with ebc's recommended method of regular driving for 500 miles though I did do some higher speed hard braking with a few hundred miles on them to get a good bedding established.

After some basic spirited canyon driving I got a good feel for them. Initial bite is decent when cold. After some calm driving to get things warm, they improve a bit but there's an unsettling gap of braking power until you get some high heat into them.
A big problem is how grabby they are after the small gap of braking friction. They are not linear, very grabby and fade with spirited canyon driving. I will give them a thumbs up as a double duty pad IF they can produce what they promise in terms of a high performance pad. Noise: they had a very loud, high pitch squeal until @ ~500miles that stopped, but for some reason after a spirited drive the noise came back.

Also, I noticed the soft backing pad on the front pads have shifted and bubbled a little. Maybe a cause of the symptoms mentioned.

For normal street driving, they are not my top choice because they need to be warmed up to fully enjoy their max braking performance.

I do not have direct experience with them, but I have watched guys try to use them at the track. They seem to excel at nothing, unfortunately. Their temperature range must be very narrow--too high to be good on the street, and too low to be good on the track. They might make a good light truck pad, however.

I knew a guy who tired them on his R32 GTR on track and when driven hard by our instructor friend, they faded quite quickly (pad fade, not fluid fade). I've got no direct experience, but I'd pass on them for sure and I thought they even ended up changing how they marketed them not long after they hit the market, going from being a track pad to a more spirited road use pad. I'd say they're a Hawk HP+ competitor at best.

I've used mine on the street, track, and for autocross. For the street they do the job with no noise and not too much dust. For AutoX they work ok, I would like some more initial bite and overall torque though. This is probably the best use for them, though I think I'll be looking elsewhere when it comes time to replace.

On the track they hold up reasonably well to heat, though not as well as HP+. They have fairly even modulation characteristics across the temp. range, but if you run them hot for awhile on the track they wear pretty quickly, sometimes even crumbling around the edges. I would buy HP+ for double-duty pads instead if you didn't want a dedicated track pad.

Also, the paint on them tends to blister and fall off when they get hot (fairly common among all pads, really), and the fiber backing pad they supply with the pads can melt if you really get tough on them.

Ive used them in everything from GTI's to Mustangs to Porsche's...I've always thought they were good and had very little fade. I would compare them to Hawk HP+...They are relatively low dust. Just a warning though, they will weld themselves to your rotors if you wash your car and then apply your parking brake...Ask me how I know this...I am running Hawk 9012's now to compare and they feel like they have a lot more bite, but are NOT a street acceptable pad as they howl and dust like a sandstorm....

I just tried them them this year great pad for the money if using on street and track day light work.
I really liked them but they only lasted one weekend.
No other real complaints but you guys seem to be spot on with what you experienced.
