Denied Brakes TSB(?)

So I finally got around after months of waiting to get my car into Mazda to get the brakes TSB done for an insanely loud brake squeal. As far as I know, it's something that can be done at a somewhat early stage of the brakes life.

Come to find out, they tell me that brakes are only covered for 12K miles/12 months. I'm at 13,700 miles and 13 months, so they told me that it's a no-go.

Anyone else ran into this problem before? I didn't think that 1 year sounded accurate, and conisdering how the TSB doesn't mention a warranty period, I would have thought that they'd flex a little. Am I really at fault, and screwed here? :banghead:

Lemme know yur thoughts, all.

Ya, here are my thoughts........that is a lot of baloney. I took a copy of the TSB to my local Mazda dealer and they fixed 'er right up---my RX had just over 14.5k on it at the time PLUS I didn't even buy the car from this dealer! This dealer also apologized for inconveniencing me. Your DEALER problem is far bigger than your BRAKE problem. :spank:

And at that, I'm up for any suggestions for good dealers in the NW Ohio region, or at least within about 100 miles of here. I'm not really caring all that much for my local dealer I bought the car from. Ugh.

My 2005 RX8 had 14222 miles and the brakes squealed awful. Took it into the Sesi Mazda Dealer service in Ypsilanti, MI along with the TSB and they fixed it completely at no charge. They smiled when they gave me my keys. No problems. I didn't buy the car from them.

Lied to you......

Oops, I lied to you about the mileage on my RX when the brakes were repaired under warranty..........it wasn't 14.5k as I said, it was 15,779 EXACTLY, I looked up the repair doc.
I likewise use SESI on Michigan Ave in Ypsilanti. Best dealer for MILES!

mother effers.

I never liked Reineke Mazda in Lima, OH.

Looks like it's time to move onto the next one in Findlay. grr.

you can buy really nice brake pads for around $70 -shrug-

Stavesacre21 06-24-2007 11:15 PM

Yea, i agree that it's not all that much, but when you pay around $30K for a car, you expect to pay $0 for brakes that are supposedly "covered" under warranty.

a) $30k is not an expensive car
b) pretty much only BMW will pay for brakes with their 4 year free service warranty. The rest of the manufacturers in the world see brakes as a consumable item and therefore is not warranted. My previous car ate brake pads avery 15-20k miles :puke: .

I took mine it at 13 months but only had 8,000 miles on it. I tried 3 dealers and they all denied it for the 12 month part. My car is now at 19,XXX and still squealing. It is obnoxious, but for now I'd rather get the most use out of the pads rather then wasting them.

and just for the sake of arguing, you knew i'd have to contest this statement.

yea, it's no BMW or porsche, but compared to the average low to mid $20K-something sedan that's standard amoung cars now days, a $30-35K sports car that claims to be a companies flagship car is on the higher end. My point was intially to point out that they should be just a HAIR more open minded to what you've put into this car before they shut you completely down because of a minute detail that they refuse to budge on.

and i'm done. :dunce:
