Decent rims for under $400?

I'm looking to find some black rims to go on my bb gt rx8. Rims that will fit the tires that are on the stocks. I'm on a budget so all i have is 400$ anything decent i could get?

chino0314 08-30-2012 09:10 PM

save up and get atleast $1000.

Ian Korgel 08-30-2012 09:26 PM

go to tirerack.com and have a look. but I agree with Chino. Dont go cheap on rims. I've seen so many cracked and broken rims because people want to go cheap.

Cole33 08-30-2012 09:27 PM

Check your local craigslist. You can find some good deals on there sometimes.

alming1132 08-30-2012 09:37 PM

i got a set of gunmetal motoforge rims for sale for 400, lighter than stock wheels, forged. PM if interested

Ricky SE3P 08-30-2012 09:38 PM

+1 on craigslist... but make a smart move when buying. call up some local tire shops and find one thats willing to check them and their balance to make sure they arent damaged (bent, cracked, warped, etc) for a small fee. meet at that location with the seller and have them checked before you buy. a little money before buying to check them will save you money later on.

godesshunter 08-30-2012 10:33 PM

With that budget, used will be the only way to go. I doubt you can even find anything worth owning for $400 new.

NotAPreppie 08-30-2012 11:31 PM

Light, cheap, strong. Pick two.

EricB 08-30-2012 11:45 PM

wow 400 is low.

For 800-1k you can find a few quality used rims from around 1999 that were kind of popular. 1500-2000 you can find some really nice quality used wheels.

as far as new goes, i wouldnt buy anything under 1k. 800-1k seems to be the borderline in quality control and looks decent.

If you are tracking the car then buy replica wheels like rota or varrstoen or whatever else there is out there, its stupid in my opinion to buy expensive wheels to have them break or bend especially when the driver mod experience isnt high enough to use the 10lb weight savings from quality wheels.

Rotor Gunnin' it 08-31-2012 12:15 AM

just save up enough for some rotas. me personally i went with rpf1's because they look great and add to the performance of the car as well

monchie 08-31-2012 09:46 AM

Save some more money and get better quality wheels, rather than buying the cheap ones.

My Gr8 8 08-31-2012 09:50 AM

You're right guys, I'm just impatient. Haha.

I'm just in highschool and only get about 20 hours a week at my current job, trying to pick up another job.

But ill try to save up to 800ish,

Anything cool you guys can suggest for that price? That will fit the stock tires.

bse50 08-31-2012 10:28 AM

Black enkei rpf1, 18x8 et35. Cheap wheels that are proven to last.

paimon.soror 08-31-2012 10:32 AM

you know you are making a poor decision when Monchie chimes in and starts saying stuff about "quality" and "cheap"

+1 on saving...best to buy something worth your time n' effort.

Also, don't shoot yourself in the foot by trying to juggle multiple jobs + school. If you're gonna get a job while going to school - GET ONE GOOD ONE....dont get two shitty jobs n' sacrifice your high school years. Seriously, what's the point in having a cool car w/money if you can't go any where or do anything. :dunno:

p.s. +1 on BSE's suggestion. RPF1's 18x8 (or 8.5) +35

Think about what happens when he says the words "my" "hot" "wife" in the same sentence.

pdxhak 08-31-2012 11:45 AM

Best used wheels for the RX8 are RX8 OE wheels.

The Reverend 08-31-2012 12:00 PM

paint your oem's

preferably purpz or neon

J8635621 08-31-2012 12:36 PM

Be sure it is something with at least 12 spokes....preferably 24

Stop posting stupid shit like this plz.

OP, as the others have said, specifically Atilla, don't stretch yourself out, you're still in HS. Put money away while you can, but don't cut out parts of your life just to buy some wheels.

J8635621 08-31-2012 12:47 PM

If you're in high school, get some "hot wheels" wheels. They are nice for the price.

bose 08-31-2012 01:33 PM

You could probably get just rims for $400, but you would need the hub and spokes to mount them.
