camber issues

Anyone with just lowering springs not able to get camber correct ?. I have maxed out my camber bolt and I'm still leaning badly

dannobre 11-11-2014 02:59 PM

Camber is ride height dependant... if the car is too low the adjustment range is too small. .. you either need adjustable links or raise it back up a bit

nlsolja123 11-11-2014 05:44 PM

Is Megan the only one who makes the adjustable arms ? Or are you talking about adjustable endlinks I don't think the sway bar endlinks would help camber correction

dannobre 11-11-2014 05:49 PM

Adjustable arms....the end link do not effect camber at all...like you surmised

AFAIK...Megan are the only ones that make them....and they aren't the best if you are hard on the car....they bend like spaggetti with high cornering loads and curbs at the track

Has anyone successfully shortened there rear lowers ? This would effectively help, or is there any offset bushings ? I can only find the front so far with a Google search.

If you are stuck on your Ride height you could cut and weld the lower arms i suppose. .. but you would likely screw the bushings from the heat. .. and you better be a decent welder :-)

How much camber do you have now and how much do you want?

nlsolja123 11-11-2014 09:38 PM

Well I have a camber gauge that shows -5 to +5 and I'm maxed out past -5 riding on the inside 2 inch patch. I just want it closer to -1 so I can save my tires from wearing so bad and fast.

Arca_ex 11-11-2014 10:12 PM

If you can't get more positive than -5 degrees of camber then you must be absolutely slammed to the ground. Way too low. You need to raise your ride height.

Either that or something is broken.

nlsolja123 11-11-2014 10:28 PM

I don't think I'm slammed. I'm on Kni and eibachs . And my rear fender line comes to the top of the tires... Is there a upper camber adjustment in the rear or just the lower ?

Arca_ex 11-12-2014 12:26 AM

If you're not slammed then either your measurement tool is not accurate or something is bent?

There are no upper adjustments. Can't really think of anything else.

nlsolja123 11-12-2014 07:23 AM

Hmm. Maybe my gauge is broke . Has new arms on it. But I'm deffinitly cambering . Maybe its not 5* but it's really noticeable and tires only last like 3 months when new

The tire wear could be compounded by a toe problem. I don't think RX8s toe that much with compression but you're obviously out of alignment so who knows. Maybe you want to take some pictures of the underside for us? Why were the arms replaced?

JCrane82 11-12-2014 08:12 AM

Just keep in mind that your camber gauge will only read correctly when on a level surface.

Mazdatrix also sells adjustable rear control arms, which are modified stock parts for ~$1500 list price, but they might sell individual arms if asked, but it sounds like something's the matter and you need to get it fixed.

nlsolja123 11-13-2014 07:10 PM

I replaced the lower camber arm on one side bc it was bent. And I understand about level ground. Maybe I need some tow adjustment but from the looks of it it looks pretty centered tow wise. I can't seem to share pics I'll try to get a link tonight.
