camber adjustment?

hey, i have no idea on going about this,

how would i be able to adjust the camber on my stock 8? do i have to buy new adjustable one's or is it possible with stock?

that1sk8rkid 03-29-2009 02:10 PM

you can adjust the camber from stock but not much at all. i lowered my 8 and the rear is still -2derees. front camout even though.

Bravery 03-29-2009 02:17 PM

i can adjust + or - right?

I need to do the same.. I put coilovers on and now my bottom of my rear wheels towards the inside are touchin before the out side.. if that make sense.. its hard to describe

That is negative camber. It happens when you lower the car (rears are especially noticeable). My rears are on -2.0 and I haven't noticed an egregious amount of tire wear, looks to be pretty normal.

I think there are some JIC suspension parts for our cars that will provide more camber/castor adjustability for the front and rear. I don't know the name of them but saw them in the For Sale threads and they are made by JIC.

peace

Take it to a shop and get a full alignment done. Camber, Caster, and Toe.

lilring 03-30-2009 12:50 PM

I will have to get that done.. any idea on how much that would cost?

Ross_Dawg 03-30-2009 02:57 PM

<150 for a FULL adjustment

lilring 03-30-2009 03:39 PM

damn thats a pretty good chunk of my change.. I will have to get that done after Midwest Mazda Fest.

I took my RX8 to Western Auto $45 full alignment front and rear with a 6 month warranty, I also got the rear cambers adjusted since I upgraded my suspension.

I8U 09-13-2009 02:44 PM

I guess it depends on your location, around here full alignments run around 80 bucks.

tiltmode43 09-13-2009 03:44 PM

If you need to fix it in a quick pinch, grab a 19mm and its literally one bolt adjustment on each side.

Careful, camber adjustment adjusts your toe as well, which increases tire wear (camber + toe out = extremely short tire life).

Get an alignment as everyone else has said, can be done for anywhere from $65-140, depending the type of place you go to.

lilring 09-13-2009 04:30 PM

Yeah.. I got a full alignment done for $100 and was very happy with the results..

NOTURX8 09-14-2009 11:48 AM

Very true, the cost for this labor really depends on the location..... good luck

Hi.
Some time ago I upgraded to Mazda Speed shocks and springs. The car sits lower then stock afterward and it was suggested that I reduce the camber to 0.
During a recent alignment I was told that the rear camber is not equal. I have -3.0 on the left and -2.7 on the right. I was also informed that the camber adjustments are seized . We tried PB and let it sit for a week, with no effect.
Questions I have are;
(1) What are factory camber setting and are there different settings for the installation of Mazda Speed shocks and springs?
(2) What is the name of the part ( Trailing link? Lower Link? Rear Lateral Arm? Lower Control Arm?) the rear camber adjustments are on?
(3) If the rear toe adjustments are not frozen should I change them as well, just to be on the safe side?

Regards.

Please refrain from making multiple posts on the same question. You are getting the correct answers in the other thread:

Our cars actually have very adjustable stock control arms compared to other vehicles, we are pretty lucky. Just take it to a shop and they'll know what to do. I do not recommend doing it yourself, because if you mess up the toe, driving the car will be miserable.
