SSR is a japanese company.

Yes weighing the issues right now...

those volks do not look right on that beamer, oh and saw one of those last nigth on the freeway, never got a good look but they are not that impresive visually to me, have to wait till i see one in person.

NgoRX8 12-13-2006 02:27 PM

might be cuz the racing beat springs aren't very stiff either so the compression and expansion plays a lot when driving. enough to still rub.

did the preload technique with the RB springs and the ride height in the front is much improved. I think he is still having rubbing issues though.

lesper4 01-23-2007 07:02 PM

Well havent had issues for some time, not sure if it is becasue lighter people are in my car or is has been north pole cold in the area lately. Maybe they are juts finally settleing in. The front still rubs but that is no matter what (just on full tilt).

Finally here you go! heh, although the lips are now shot cause someone put degreaser on them... :( you can read the other thread about it. I really need to get some new lips and if at all possible I would like them to be black or the same color as the rest of my wheel.

lesper4 01-23-2007 09:18 PM

looks good fox what about a pictures of your whole car.

CorranFox 01-25-2007 01:40 AM

Sorry about that, I was at work when I posted that, anyway my wheels have since been cleaned improperly(by a shop) and are starting to rust... they also have a wierd hazing on that outer lip... :( you can read all about it on my other post about my ro-ja's needing help.

What kind of polish do you guys use on your Ray's wheels? I mean they mostly have that same lip... I'm real curious what type of polish is safe, even though my wheels may be irrepairable.

Make a habit of first washing the wheels when washing your car.

Do not use household cleaners or other detergents to clean your wheels. The best wheel cleaning solution is a mild soap and water solution (whatever you would trust on the paint of your car).

Clean with a soft, un-abrasive cloth. Only on polished wheels can you use aluminum wheel polish. If you use this polish on chrome, painted, or clear coated wheels, you will only scratch the finish.

Do not use steam cleaners in automatic car washes.

Do not use any tire cleaners on your wheels.

Clean wheels when they are cool. Heat can effect the soap, causing it to dry on the wheel and become difficult to rinse off.

Clean one wheel at a time. This also prevents the soap from drying on to the wheel.

After the wheels are clean and dry, apply a coat of soft paste style wax to them. This will create a moisture barrier and help ensure the finish lasts as long as possible.

I just bought the volk te37 19x8.5 & 19x9.5. What would be good peformance tires so I can take my car to the track once in a while? Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks for the detailed info I will have to remember this for my next set of wheels :(

I think these ones are shot... if the seal is gone isn't the metal still ok? couldn't I just polish the hell out of it or something?

BoosTED 01-26-2007 05:29 AM

You could have it buffed and re-cleared that would be the best for the long run.

Polishing only would last so long and what it does is takes a layer off of the item being worked on. ;)

I'm looking for a more do it yourself style fix... the wheels are also bent on one side now cause I hit a pothole goin' 40... it was like a jarring CRUNCH and when I looked... there they were.. anyway I don't have the cash to get them fixed up but if it is something I can do myself... anyway I dunno.

BoosTED 01-26-2007 07:33 PM

If it is already messed up you can only make it better right?

You could do a light polish on them. Not sure a good one off the top of my head that would use though.

Do you know if those are a multi-piece rim?

VarneyMazda 01-27-2007 07:39 AM

after my volk nightmare, i vowed to never let anyone clean my car again.

i went 3 months without my wheels.

you should dry them with a towel too after you clean them instead of letting them air dry. if you let them air dry you might notice a slight haze from leftover soap and also the hard water.

Here are my specs, as comparison...

19x8.5 + 46 (with 245 series tires)
19x9.5 + 40 (with 275 series tires)

Back looks fine....but I'm seriously questioning your front. Who did you get the wheels from?

EDIT: I'm lowered 0.8 with MS components

XDEEDUBBX 01-31-2007 03:57 PM

my fronts are 19x8.5 +30 w/245 and i barely rub when the wheel is completely turned, and when i do rub, its seriously not bad at all, but my car sits lower than yours so it may not rub.

pdxhak 01-31-2007 04:20 PM

I run 19x8.5 +40 255/35 and do not rub and no fender roll. I can lock out the wheels both ways and it is lowered 1.5" up front.

mikeb 01-31-2007 04:49 PM

thanks guys
i feel better now
i got the rims in the for/sale thread from another rx8 user

they were used once for a photoshoot

success07 01-31-2007 08:31 PM

Mine aren't Volk but I have 19x8.5 35mm 245/35 in the front and when the wheels are at full turn I'm about a half inch from rubbing. Rubbing is no good, so I hope the 255 end up working for you.

Spinning Sushi 02-01-2007 11:21 AM

Quick question, those of you with +38 offset, do you guys did any fender rolling or shaving at all? I don't know how to use the offset calculators so spare me the flame. Thanks in advance

BoosTED 02-01-2007 11:25 AM

Not any problem with the stock tires.

guys
I need some help
here is two night time pics
i will take more pics in the daytime

my back tires rub on tight turns and bumps

the tires are 285/30/19
rims are 19inch by 9.5

im having issues with just the rear

i have eibach springs
what can i do
should i buy new springs

XDEEDUBBX 02-01-2007 08:49 PM

looks tight mike..you might have to get your fenders shaved..i know a shop in redondo beach that does a good job..they did mines, ngorx8, and FE3P's.

SiLVeRE8 02-01-2007 08:58 PM

or just get it cambered

NgoRX8 02-01-2007 09:00 PM

looks good!

RA-Eight 02-01-2007 09:10 PM

Shaving or rolling your fenders would be an easier solution than new springs. Unless the rates are really stiff, it might not even fix the rubbing.

mikeb 02-01-2007 09:31 PM

ok thanks guys
cuz my inside of the fender is hitting the top of my rear tires

i have a 1.2 drop and was thinking i would get racing beat springs cuz they are .5 drop
but would that not help

i dont care about the money
i just want to fix it

should i get springs or just shave it more

NgoRX8 02-01-2007 09:43 PM

it wont help much. just get the fender shaved and you should be fine.

kwescott 02-01-2007 11:04 PM

It wont help Mike. Had the same problem with Lesper4's ride. He bought a set ofVolks from another forum member, who bought them originally off a guy with an EVO....the offsets were not perfect. He had Tein S techs, switched to Racing Beats, still rubs.

+1 for "rolling"/"shaving".
