Break Issue
 

Ok I took my rx8 out with my buddies subaru last week and really put it to the test. and i few things about my breaks i hadnt noticed before.

basically when im breaking 70+ mph the car vibrates. to one point i was breaking into a turn and car slid out from me for a sec.

im not slamming on the breaks, just breaking into a turn really. was wondering if anyone had any ideas what this could be. i dont think its the abs and my break pads are about mid life. any other thouhts?

i hope when you mean breaking into a turn you mean BRAKING BEFORE A TURN.

if the car vibrates when braking, its possible the rotors are warped.

Not supposed to break hard and turn at the same time...

warped rotors.....get them turned/cut or get new ones....cause my overheating the rotors and putting "waves" in the surface area that contacts the pads

Perhaps you should spend more time on your spelling than your braking. ;)

yes i do brake before the turn, i said i was brakeing going into. i was keeping up with my buddy 100+ on straights so i would come up fairly quickly to a turn and need to brake.

as for the warped rotors, would i not notice them at lower speeds? or is it maybe so slight that it wouldnt react that way until i was moving fast enough?

First read Brake FAQ https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-55/brake-faq-167264/ Its either one or both of 2 possiblities with the extremely rare possibility of a 3rd. Your rotors are likely not warped (warping is the extremely rare possibility) but based upon your own description of driving style the most likely possiblilty is that you have uneven pad deposits on your rotor face from overdriving the thermal limits of your pads. 04RX8man is sort of on the right track but the waves are actually uneven build ups of transferred pad material that make the rotor face uneven. The other possibility is as you mentioned the ABS is kicking in which could happen by itself or along with the vibration from the pad deposits. It is very difficult to warp a rotor but it is very easy to put pad deposits on them. Turning or replacing the rotor will temporarily cure the problem but unless you change either your pad's thermal range or your driving style or both you will shortly rencounter the same problem again.
