Slicks. :D

Why don't you post what you are looking for? I think if price is not an issue, Michelin Pilot Sport is your best summer only tire that is not an R compound.

falken azenis sports
corner like you're on rails, i've never seen a non-r compound tire that was soo effective, unfortunatly they don't come in an 18 size yet |

What's an "R" compound tyre? (for us the other side of the pond) :)

R compound tires are "racing" compound tires.. used only at lapping days or auto-x days. Usually very bad in the rain. Soft and sticky, won't last very long.
Here is a list of some more common ones.. http://www.talontire.com/cgi-bin/sizesearch.cgi |
I agreed Falken Azenis is a great value for non-r (non-racing) tires. It has very sticky and stiff sidewall. But it tends to drone at highway speed and don't last long. My last set was replaced at around 15k miles, but that also included 3 driving schools. Contrary to believes, it's quite good in the rain. As long as there are not a substantial amount of standing water, it'll do fine. In fact, unless it's raining heavily, the Azenis is much better than so called all-weather tires I had in the past.

i have a 2001 eclipse gt it handles worse than a ford tarus. The stock tires were goodyear rsas( which suck) so i needed new tires and bought Toyo Proxes T1-S with thease tires my car actualy handles very good i can take a turn at 40 and not hear a squeel. Also thease thing make u very confindentabout driving in the rain

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> That doesnt mean anything man. Not to flame, but you didnt specify as to what type of turn you could take @ 40 MPH...freeway on ramp? Heh Heh. I have potenza S-03s on my volvo 850. We can take hairpins and wide 180 degree turns in excess of 40MPH Rain or Dry without a squeek. The main tires you shoud check out for great performance include: A032R A048R Potenza S-03 Azenis T1-s The A032 and 48 are the best probably for dry, but suck in wet...ive heard the azenis arent the best in the rain ither. The reason i say the S-03 are the best all around is because they took the tread from the Dry and wet F1 tires and combined em. F1 cars run on potenzas ;) So theres no denying they arent good. |
