Best all season tire for RX-8

I am looking for suggestions as to the best all season tire for the RX-8. I live in southern New England and don't plan on driving the RX-8 much in the winter, but I need a tire that can get me home if I get caught in a little snow.

Bump. I'm interested too. I'm looking at the Yokohama AVID W4S because those got pretty decent reviews on the Tire Rack. Maybe our rep can chime in. Connor?

I have BF Goodrich G-Force Super Sport A/S 245/18s on. The ride is comfortable. Their handling in rain is superb. They're way more quiet than the stockers. I paid about 155 each (about a year ago). The best tires I've ever used for my cars...

And also..I'm in Seattle....i've driven in light snow a few times last winter.....they did pretty well....!

I have Continental ContiExtremeContact in 245 40's and have been happy thus far. Rain traction is greatly increased, and dry traction is adequate. turn in is not as sharp, but my car's a DD not an Auto-x-er. I'll let you know about snow in Dec or January.

I just purchased 4 AVID W4S - not mounting until fall-going to Lime Rock end of month for BMW CVCC driving school-will wear out stock Potenza's there. Once I have them mounted will let you know how they are.

depends how much you wanna spend. I have had the Conti Extreme contact on my lexus rwd GS400 and they were great (18" wheel - same size as Rx8.)

I have driven in the snow with them and at the least, you can get around or get home if you get caught in snow.

Man I came here to look for some help too. But you are all throwing out too many options. I for some reason am enthralled by Hankook even though so many have said they hated them. Are they really bad? Honest answers, I just want to get good tires (most people I talk to say Pirelli tires or Michelins)

The reason it seems like everyone has a different opinion on what is "best" is because there is no right/wrong answer. Tires are heavily application dependant.....so what is best for you will not be what is best for someone else. If you truly what to find what is best for you, and you want other's opinions on it......please provide some information about your application to help us.

Here are a couple areas to start:

-What is the intended use? (be as specific as possible, even if you think the information is not needed)
-How many miles do you expect from a set of tires?
-Driving style?
-What do you expect from a tire? (ride comfort, handling performance, handling feel, rain traction.....etc.)
-The list can go on and on, but I think you get the point.

PS: Congrats on bumping a 5 year old thread. It is better than starting a new one.......and no...I am not being sarcastic.

I've tried a few AS tires on my RX8. The Pirelli's were so good as a dry tire, I ran them at a couple of track days. They weren't the best at snow. But, better than summer performance tires. The GY Eagle F1 (discontinued) were pretty good at everything. They had good stiff sidewalls which made for a good turn in, but a rougher ride. They also wore out quickly. Continentals were great over all. They were the best in snow traction. And, last a long time.
I haven't tried Hankook. I'm predigest against Michelins from using them on other cars. And for what they did in F1 at Indianapolis 10 yrs ago. They now own BFG, so I won't be getting those either. Generals worked well on my (now ex)wife's Subaru.

I've had Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons and Continental Extreme Contact DWS. The Eagles were OK but the Continentals are better in my opinion. Currently on my second set of Continentals. They are very good in light snow for an all-season tire.

You didn't have to clarify sarcasm, runs through my family haha. But I've got 3 f1 and one eagle gt. (from previous owner he did heinous things to that beautiful car!) I think I'm gonna pioneer the new hankook tires. In price range and seem to have good test results on the QGTC or whatever the Acronym is.

I have the Eagle gts, and i am very happy with them. not the most comfortable ride, but still pretty comfy, and they have great grip and ride in the rain. Theyre pretty good in the snow (drove in 3 inches and they were fine) but better in rain.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All Season is what i just got on my car. They are outstanding tires. Seriously consider these. I just found these reviews yesterday when i was trying to find a tread pic to show Jedi and they confirm what i have found myself already

I love my Continental Extreme Contact DWS. They work great in snow, rain or in the dry. I have driven them all over the United States in all kinds of weather conditions year round . Not quite as quick turn in as pure summer rubber, but excellent feel and surefooted And they are built to last, with a 50,000 mile tread warranty, and I can tell you after 15,000 miles on them, they will easily make 50,000 miles. They also come with a one year, 12,000 mile tire hazard warranty, unheard of in an extreme performance tire. And speed rated to 195 MPH, though no stock RX8 will ever see those speeds.

And they score at the top of ratings against competitors from Pirelli, Goodyear and Michelin.

Been driving RXs for 40 years ,since 1973 and have tried just about every high and ultra-performance tire, summer and all-season types. The Conti DWS are by far the BEST ultra performance all-season tires I have ever had on any of my seven RXs.
