Quick question....Is Ate Super Blue Racing brake fliud compatible with 2007 RX-8? Owners manual lists DOT 3 brake fliud, Super Blue is DOT 4. Need to change brake fluid, (also the clutch fluid on RX-8) for upcoming track day. Thanks for any help!

 

Dot 3 and Dot 4 brake fluids are interchangable.

Stay away from Dot 5.

Yes, it works well! Alternate between ATE SuperBlue and Typ200 between flushes, as the only difference is the color, so you can tell when the old fluid has been flushed.

 

I use ATE its great, I change it before every track day.

ATE sells in two colors blue, and gold.

 

My fluid of choice....like a few others above I swap between Super Blue and 2000

This maybe is stupid question, but I'm still trying to figure out my brake noise. I dont think it is a pad problem. It is not a constant squeal when applying my brakes like others have talked about. It is like a creak noise every time my wheels go around. But it only occurs when I apply my brakes. Would brake fluid have anything to do with this, or no? Not sure the last time it was changed? If it hasnt been changed since it was bought, could this be my problem? I have an 04 with about 36k on it. Thanks in advance.

 

No, the brake fluid would not have anything to do with it. The brake fluid is only responsible for pushing the brake piston. Search for DIY brake squeal fix, e.g. here (though I wouldn't use antiseize on the back of the pads, I'd use synthetic brake grease proper).

 

i use super blue. The only complaint I have is that people point to my photos of my car and tell me that I need to change my brake fluid because it's a dark color.

 

Thanks man. I've already searched, and all I can find is stuff about a brake squeal/screach. But like I said, its more of a creak noise. Not like a brake pad constant screaching noise. It creaks everytime the wheels go around when Im applying the breaks.

I still doubt it's the brake fluid. What kind of creak is it? Does it happen when you step on the brakes and it creaks continuously until you let go of them? Or does it creak repeatedly in short bursts as the wheel goes around when you step on the brake?

 

It creaks each time the wheel goes around when I'm applying the brakes. Either the foot brake, or if I'm applying the hand brake. I brought the vehicle up to like 10mph to see if it was only when I used the foot brakes, but if I just use the hand brake to slow down, it does the same thing. Depending on how fast I'm going, the creaking happens more frequently because the wheels are going around faster. I hope that makes sense?

 

ATE Super Blue is what i use. i recommend it highly.

It must be something with the rear calipers...otherwise it wouldn't do it with the handbrake...

 

You don't need Dot 4 for the street.

You are better off staying with DOT 3

 

and why are you "better off" staying with DOT3, other than additional $ expense?
