Air ride system?

I'm contemplating putting an air ride suspension on my 8. I hate the gap in the wheel wells so I want to lower it about an inch. However, some of the streets around here would not be kind to a 8 that's 1 inch lower. Plus I have to raise it comes winter because of the snow.

So... does anyone know of a good kit for an 8?

1 inch ain't even that low. Just get coilovers instead.

I have to be nice to noobs.

Most drop springs for the RX-8 are a 1/2" more than a 1" drop in the front and about a 1" drop in the rear. A 1" drop in the front wouldn't really be noticeable at all. I suggest you not post anymore new threads and start reading in the suspension section and learn about the car. Don't expect people to feed you information without any effort on your part.

^ Well said. However you can't do a three wheel slide with coilovers!

Coming from someone who spent over 2 years bagged I would say if you're really serious there's only one kit out there worth considering and it's the airrunner setup. That said, their stuff runs over 4k and even though I've spoken to them and they claim it is complete you might still wind up buying stuff afterwards despite spending 4 grand, and waiting about 3-4 weeks for it to be delivered.
Their stuff is legit though, it uses a KYB strut and a bag basically goes in place of where the spring normally sits, you get adjustable dampening, and since they use 1/4" line it probably handles pretty close to a normal setup.

There are a couple of other people out there that claim they have a "kit", but they pale in comparison and it's usually a universal kit that's not really meant for our cars where each airrunner setup is designed for each specific vehicle (hence the high price). I'd be weary of anything by anyone else, especially airbagit, they're like the extreme dimensions of the air suspension market.

Personally, I'm just as happy driving around slammed on Stance coilovers now, I still have adjustability, car handles great, I no longer have to worry about leaks, or the car settling down overnight or something random happening while driving it (yep, that happened once, these cars can go crazy low from what I learned that day), or water getting into my airlines, or my compressor acting up, or any of a number of problems I had before. Air ride can be driven daily, but be prepared to spend a ton of money to get it there, and be ready to keep an eye on things, and lose space in your ride for tanks, lines, compressor, etc.

It has literally been 10 years since the last post in this thread ;)
You are welcome to join the forum, but is this really how you want to start things off?
