aftermarket rims information

im sure this is the wrong area, but i know they mods will move it. but the rx-8 workshop manual is online for dealers. and looking at the tire pressure monitor. it is attached to the valve stem. so any wheel will work, just have to swap the valvestem/control unit with the new rims. anyway just thought you guys would like to know!

Anyone know or care to speculate when 15 or 16" steelies will be available for the 8? I've got to get some prior to winter coming.

brothervoodoo 07-08-2003 09:20 PM

Did you get the GT with the bigger brakes? I've read on this board that 16' rims may not fit.... :eek:

... as long as the OEM wheels don't have some sort of proprietary design in the vicinity of the valve stem hole. One would hope not, but on the Technical Hiughlights CD thay did say that the system was incompatible with aftermarket wheels. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Fubbie,

since you have access can you tell us what the wheel specs are ie... backspacing and bolt pattern/diameter?

ibfubar2000 07-09-2003 03:56 PM

i dont see anything that specific about the tires. i will ask the tech though next time he comes into my office and ask him where i can find it at. <p>
i did find info on the oil though:

Item Recommended oil
API service SL
SAE viscosity 5W-20
ILSAC GF-3
Oil capacity (Approx. quantity)

L {US qt, lmp qt}

Item Oil capacity (Approx. quantity)
Oil replacement 3.6 {3.8, 3.2}
Oil and oil filter replacement 3.8 {4.0, 3.3}
Engine overhaul 5.0 {5.3, 4.4}
Total (dry engine) Standard power: 6.1 {6.4, 5.4}
High power: 6.9 {7.3, 6.1}

zoom44 07-09-2003 04:27 PM

ahh can you translate that fubes? i'm not sure i understand what you posted there. wha does " Oil replacement 3.6 {3.8, 3.2}" and the rest of the numbers mean?

ibfubar2000 07-09-2003 04:42 PM

oil replacement means if you drain th oil from the oil pan refill with 3.6l. if you drain with replaceing the oil filter fill with 3.8l. if you overhaul the engine fill with 5.0l and if the engine is completely dry(ie new engine) fill with 6.1l. {the number in the brackets are us qts and impqts}
