the socket getting stuck to the lugnut is irritating, but making sure they are nice and secure is more important
|
^ I ended up returning that socket and getting one that fits better. Only problem then was it wouldnt fit on my torque wrench FML. So i put it on my impact gun and torqued the lug nuts. I know youre not supposed to use an impact gun to torque the nuts but i figured id rather over tighten them and be alive then under tighten and be dead.

I can confirm 20mm spacers on the front will require you to dremel the cavity in your wheels slightly. Or slice the oem studs.
I run 20mm in the front and 25mm in the rear. No changes in handling. Been on for 10k. Attachment 243865 Attachment 243866 Attachment 243867 Attachment 243868 |
Damn mobile site won't let me edit.
I chose to slice my front studs. I torqued it down and painted them. Approximately 3mm sticks out on the 20mm. Hence why 25mm requires no modification. I run 245s as well and I don't have my fenders rolled (although I will soon). The plastic wheel fender liner in the rear rubbed till it wore through and I have just enough camber to clear the fenders. 225/45/18 are clear all day though(my winter tires). |
Weird, I only had slight rubbing in the rear and that was only when I was on a big speed bump off camber. I still don't rub even at 18" x 9.5" +30. You may need new shocks.
Looks good, any reason you did not go 25mm all the way around? |
I have koni rear struts as well. One is defective.
I got a killer deal on them from my coworkers EVO for $100 :) Thanks I'm working on getting a replacement strut and I've changed to sprint springs so the front wheel gap is gone. So the rears will be changed out once I get my new rear strut. |
Ah okay, well that explains it, the Koni's make it sit even lower. If you get a high pressure gas shock like my KYB's you shouldn't have any rubbing issues.

hey guys just wondering i lowered my car and i have 245 45 18 in the rears and im thinking of putting 20mm spacers all around if i would have to roll my fenders

Why 20mm?, go 25mm. I had no rubbing issues running 245/40-18's. |
9k and rx8rotary,
This thread realllllllly inspired me to buy spacers... I'd just like to clarify a few things (even though i read this entire thread twice). Did you go 25mm all the way around? Were you on stock springs/shocks? Any companies who make spacers that you would recommend? Anything you would do differently? FYI I'm running stock rims with stock tires sizes (I believe 225/45-18) thanks! |
OH, and if any of you want to sell your 25mm I think i can help you out VERY quickly...

haha I apologize, I'm very cautious..
I'm a chemistry major so.. If i make a mistake it can result in purple knock-out gas. BUT, to bother you a bit more, were you running stock shocks? haha all your help is more than appreciable. thanks |
will the 25mm spacers give me any rubbing with 18x8.5 rims wit 225/45/18 tires?
|
I got 225/45s and i just ordered my teins. Im getting ready to buy the spacers but it doesnt look like 25mm in the front will fit.... am i losing it, or are the 225 different than the 245 on stock rims?!?
|
you will be fine with stock rims with 25mm spacers all around. check out ichiba or H&R spacers or any hubcentric ones. on stock rims, you can run up to 245 and be lowered on stock shocks with tein s-techs no problem.

That's awesome. Should i look into rolling my fenders? In my mind the extra room will only aid me in case i get some rubbing..
|
If your on stock shocks no.
My car is slammed in the rear, pics above. You can't fit a finger in there, anywhere. Tanabe springs, koni rear struts, 245/40/18s. Rubs with passengers, very hard cornering. Riding solo it barely touches the tire. |

It can't hurt.
^ Yeah but that's not typical, that is mechanical failure of the shocks or sagging springs, or both. Took em off today and put the sprint springs on with KYB struts. WOW it rides so much better. Still pretty low, I'll take pics later this week, once it gets time to settle in. |
