20" wheels good or bad???

I really like jenkins-crews 20"/8.5 TSW Thruxtons.....he has them mounted on 255/35/20 tires. Would this be okay for the daily driver? I am also running the Tein S tech springs. Any opinions would be great, thx.

check them out!

any more pics of this car????

where's the member JO8? He SWORE by 20s, regardless of performance.

Slick8 09-08-2005 03:55 PM

Your car will be much slower.

mikeb 09-08-2005 04:27 PM

its ok for daily driven
you would lose some performance

BlueEyes 09-08-2005 04:47 PM

bad

DarKEnergY 09-08-2005 05:14 PM

I'd say the 19" would be the perfect compromise if need GOOD looking wheels which are still going FAST. 20" is a bit too much, in addition the appearence difference between 19 and 20 isn't too big IMXO

XDEEDUBBX 09-08-2005 05:34 PM

19 inch volks are the way to go. Baller status wheels that are lightweight!

BlueEyes 09-08-2005 05:39 PM

17 inch volks are where the status is at.

20" wheels good or bad???
good or bad for what? by what measure are we to judge?

XDEEDUBBX 09-08-2005 05:47 PM

dam 17 inch volks would be lights as hell!

LiL BenNy 09-08-2005 05:53 PM

would 17 be better performance then 18's?

BlueEyes 09-08-2005 06:26 PM

I would think so. Lighter, lower rotational inertia. Depending on who you ask, a lower complaince side wall is a good or bad thing. 17's would have more compliance than an 18. Generally, I would go smaller. I would want 16's if they would fit. I don't think they do though....right?

drifter_d 09-08-2005 07:05 PM

the loss of performance is a real factor to consider when buying 19" or 20" wheels. it really boils down to what you do with your car. if you 1/4 mile, autocross, or drift - forget about the big wheels. if you just cruise and do the show scene - bigger wheels would be the way to go.

Kel Rx8 09-11-2005 10:03 PM

just ask him if he has any issue's to be certain.
but there is no reason for problems for daily driving with 20'wheels on a rx8.

EZZY 09-12-2005 09:25 AM

oh... not again....
do a search, there should ba a couple of 20" bashing threads :D

Kel Rx8 09-12-2005 07:22 PM

^^^^^^^^agree
everyone just p.m or (ezzy if he accepts) on any certain questions. threads like this get no where.

BlueEyes 09-12-2005 07:26 PM

Why cause 20 inch wheels make no logical sense on a torqueless sports car?

:stirs the pot: :p
all jokes

Kel Rx8 09-12-2005 07:34 PM

makes plenty of sense in my world, but I have 2 cars for 2 different styles and daily driving.
but seriously then again the stock wheels on the rx8 is also not logical in that case.
but it boils down what we do and what we prefer with our cars which make it great.

Volkov 09-12-2005 08:18 PM

My 20's are lighter than the factory wheels. It does take a bit of $$$ to get those kind of weights in a large rim though.

BlueEyes 09-12-2005 08:21 PM

Is there moment of inertia less though?

EZZY 09-13-2005 12:01 AM

im more than happy to answer any questions via PM, and im sure kel would be happy to do the same :D :p
