18x7.5

i really like the enkei rs-7 but the largest size they make is 18x7.5, i just found out that our stock wheel is 18x8. do you think the 7.5 width is gonna effect the performance. i just want atleast stock performance. the tire package i would get the rims with come with 225/40/r18. let me know.

dont know what the rs-7 is, but i am running the rp02 18x7.5 45mm. you need to run the stock size 225/45 18.....

weight 18.1 lbs per wheel

I personally would not put hte rs-7s on my car, but if thats what you want...
18X7.5 should be alright. You're probably not going to be able to go much wider than a 225, which is what your stock tire is anyway.

What exactly about the rs7 did you like? If it was the 7 spoke design or performance from a light wheel.. i'm sure you can find a much better alternative.

i like the looks. bronze with the polished lip looks sweet on a black 8.

if you have any alternatives give me some ideas. although i want to stay under $1400 and that's including tires. also the wheel must be gold or bronze.

What color is your 8?

Here are 4 I would recommend (pics attached)
5 Zigen GN Pro
Gram Lights Pro
Volk CE 28n
Volk TE 37

The 5zigens are going to be your most affordable rim out of the 4. IMO it also looks fantastic. I almost went with this rim myself. You should be able to easily find a set of 4 under $1400, and they also come in 18X8.5 as well as 18X9.5 - which will allow you to stick more rubber on there.

I am pretty sure all 4 of these rims are also going to be lighter than the Enekei RS7. Enkei makes a great set of wheels in their racing line, but the RS7 is from a different line.

if you're running 225 or 235 tires you won't be able to tell the width difference and they'll be less likely to get scuffed against the curbs for that tire width, sounds like an economical alternative and if you get some good tires it can probably handle better than OE despite the narrower width

GeorgeH 03-23-2006 09:13 AM

I noticed a difference when going from an 8 to an 8.5 on 245s. Tires take a set better and the slip angles don't grow as large. I can't tell you if the car is faster but I can tell you it subjectively feels better - more linear on the limit.

But, with the lower profile of a 225/40 it will probably still handle just fine on a 7.5. Personally, I'd reccomend against as I think your handling will suffer subjectively if you ever go wider than a 225, but it does sound like an economical (and light) alternative.

i'm not gonna go over 225. i just want it to handle as good as stock atleast. also getting tein springs.

I think that's a good choice both on the wheels and tire size 225/40/18's are not too wide for 71/2 inch rims Go for it. Good Luck.
