WTF is a VDI solenoid valve control circuit?
Hi, I'm throwing some CELs - YES I have looked at the linked CEL codes thread, which is where I got the title from. I am throwing PCM - P0076 which the thread states is a "VDI solenoid valve control circuit low OFF 2 CCM" ...but I have no idea what 'VDI' or 'CCM' means.
Can anyone tell me what those acronyms mean or what the whole message means? Also, did anyone decide what the ultimate cause of a Rear Rotor Misfire (P0302) is? Thanks. |
dude ... you dunno where is your VDI ?
when you get that that usually means its "stuck" and your engine is running out of breath, thats why u will see P0302. |

I dont know what the rest of the code means, but here is a diagram of the VDI

1 Attachment(s)
VDI = Variable Dynamic Effect Intake-Air
CCM = Comprehensive Component Monitor You can easily verify if the VDI valve is stuck. Here is a link to a DIY on how to check it: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-troubleshoot-intake-valves-174009/ The solenoid is trickier to reach. Its behind/under the upper intake manifold. Attachment 141583 |

Usually means your rear coils, wires, or plugs are toast.
I just replaced my plugs with brand new stock ones, and I bought the BLACK HALO RACING ignition kit (their coils, their wires), all installed correctly. I'm starting to hate this car, it never seems to run right and I take better care of it than my turbocharged S2000 DD... |
