Won't start, electrical issue

Hey Guys,

Went to start the car (2005 GT, manual) this morning and she won't go.

All of my gauges go wonky, shooting up to the top and dropping back to zero before resuming anything regular. When I turn the key, nothing. Just a single faint electrical click and no attempt at turning over.

It was running fine yesterday, though I sent it to the shop recently and have been having issues with idle RPM dropping and recovering randomly.

The car has a newer engine, rebuilt less then 6,000 miles ago so I know it's not a compression issue, also seeing as the car won't even attempt to turn over, it's an electrical issue.

The battery seems fine as well, seeing as I can turn my headlights on. My interior lights won't turn on though...

I've had no problems with starts, no lagging or anything, always turns over in 2 seconds tops.

I've disconnected the battery and checked the terminals, which seem fine, and checked all my fuses regarding ignition, which are all fine.

I currently have the battery on a charger to see if that helps.

Any ideas? I hate electrical gremlins.....

My first but of advice, is to first unplug battery, then get get close and use a flashlight, and follow the electrical lines from the battery. Make sure there are no exposed wires. If your engine was recently replaced, the Y may have just knocked something lose. Sounds like a short to me.:dunno:
