When to use gasket sealer?
I am in the process of installing a reman and was wondering what opinions are towards when and where to use gasket sealer?
So far no surfaces appear to have any kind of sealer, which has made cleaning the mating surfaces a breeze. My gasket set is from atkins and appears to be good quality. The intake and exhaust manifold were multi-layer so there didn't seem much point in applying any sealer. I'm at the water pump now, which might make some sense. Opinions/suggestions? |
If u have factory gasket set, u dont need any sealant

Oil pan is all that uses it on the long block, that all I have ever used it on. I use a bit on my oil filter because of a plate issue.

Thanks for the replies. That is what I was thinking, but wanted some other opinions to be sure. The pan is already installed by Atkins during the rebuild, so with good gaskets everything else should be good from here as is.
Thanks |
Don't use any kind of sealer on the exhaust. It will burn of. Most of the stock mazda gaskets are rubber coated steel and seal pretty well.
