I am rewiring my audio system and took out my glove box and found a plastic object in an empty space immediately to the right of the glove box below the dash. It looks like it should be attached to something but I have no clue what it goes to or if it is important. It has apparently been hanging out in this area for some time now. So, if anyone knows what it is and where it goes, I would be very thankful.

 

That would be the strut that cpnnects to the glove box so it doesn't just fall down when you open it.

 

That is interesting. I wonder how it came off in the first place since I have never done anything regarding the glove box. Thanks for the response.

 

look on the side of the box,there should be a stub sticking out that will connect to the arm. The cyl end i am not sure how it is attached. Strange that it came off too, did you buy the car new?

 

you have to take it off to get to the cabin air filter. someone didnt put it back on.
