Warm console issue
 

Just got a 09 Rx8, i found that the center console is too warm for my liking. Is the heat coming from the transmission or mid pipe? If the mid pipe is the culprit, will wrapping it with exhaust thermo warp slove the problem? :uhh:

its the tranny....just gotta learn to live with it

Warm Console is normal on the RX-8. It is coming from the exhaust which on this car runs hot. I doubt wrapping it will do anything.

I use the cup heaters to keep my coffee warm!

I don't think it will do any harm.

Robin's DIY is great. I wrapped the cup holder area with foam-backed foil and reapplied the wadding around it (it's snug with both). I put sections of the foam-backed foil under the shifter console. The shifter console is much better and the cup area dropped about 10-15 degrees. It's still on the warm side, but not hot.
