VDI solenoid

Hey gang, turbo finally installed has been running good, but today I ran into a little problem. The nipple at the vdi solenoid broke off, after searching mazmart and the internet here I am. A little help finding a replacement part would be appreciated. Also, are the SSV VDI and Air pump solenoid the same?

No problem at all. Those buggers are expensive 60-80$ new but I lucked out and so did you. If you read the description its a limited amount listed. I took my uim off yesterday... prepare to be extra greasy.

Oh and careful with the attachment clip on the back of the solenoid ,they like to snap.

lol ive had my uim off before, just got done with a turbo install, mine is reletively clean, im going to try and switch the air pump solenoid with the vdi solenoid as im not using an air pump, any advice on getting them off without breaking those tabs... im actualy working on it now

actualy easy to get out without breaking, for anyone reading this in the future ....
take a screwdriver and apply light pressure to the clip through the slot where the clip grasps the mount while pulling up on the solenoid lightly, the solenoid will come out easily

Well when i took my uim off i saw a lot of dirt i couldnt reach before and got super greasy cleanin haha. Sometimes the clips snap off no matter what cause theyre real brittle. Glad to hear you put it in yourself. Kit or custom?

Cornbred 04-22-2014 01:33 PM

was origionally a kit but I've replaced quite a few things. its an esmiril turbo with the pt6266 and adaptronic ecu.

well I swaped the solenoid but apparently that wasnt the problem that alerted me to it being broken. I have a verry high pitched sound comming from what seems to be the back of the UIM it started up after a few days of driving and wasnt there last time I shut it off. It doesnt seem to be occuring under load and im throwing codes for the ssv... guess im taking that uim back off and looking for something else broken.

Did you see if the actuator a pinhole in it, that would prolly cause a whistle type sound and an code for the ssv.

About to start pulling my hair out, it is obvious to me now that the broken solenoid was a different problem than what alerted me to to it being broken. ive checked all the vacuum lines and the UIM gaskets appear to be fine, but still this high pitched scream persists. It is so loud its hard to pinpoint where it is comming from, at this point it sounds like its emanating from the area where the injectors are and the ssv actuator is. Im absolutely frustrated and clueless. Im a step away from sending it to a shop, but none here work on rotary engines and there is no shops that really do anything but stock application repairs. It only happens when there is no load whatsoever, vac sits right about at -18 and the sound dissapates untill about -14 at which point its gone. happens at start up, at idle, after its warmed up. Pretty much any time there is no load, and it's ear piercing loud.

you're lucky to have a dealer without a high markup on them, they're usually about $125 around here before any discounts.

a whistle noise is most likely a vacuum leak either at the injectors or at an intake seam.
