Urgent help please

Hi guys,
Have searched as much as possible to no avail.
I have a CEL on start up that stays off once cleared but come back after disconnecting battery/clearing the KAM etc. it is P0353 which is not in the RX8 FSM. I need to know whats up asap as trying to sell it and ive been searching for weeks. have swapped rotor #2 coils in place of #1 and fault stays as p0353/354 no matter what combination of coils and have also put in new coils fault stays the same.

Is this a common genenric code that they throw or am I missing something?Cheers,
Ryan

PS I have searched to my hearts content and am on breaking point with this thing now.

Without any first hand experience, these links are the best I can do. Maybe it will help if you haven't seen them already.

Seems like if you've swapped coils it might be the connection to the coils and not actually the coils themselves.

Those codes are unique to JDM RX-8s, and from my understanding, the ECU is actually looking for specific response information from the coils, and will return a CEL if a different / wrong coil is used. Are these OEM coils of the right version?

I think there is a way of bypassing the problem, but I have no first hand knowledge of it. I'll see if I can get Brettus to chime in here.

Hi ryandaum ,
RIWWP is correct (as usual :) )

If your coils are ok you could bring the car down to me in Hamilton to have the cel deleted .

Quick question, are these coils suposto be grounded mine has a coil that they bolt to the stud has snapped and it's just laying on the mounting bracket? 2 coils look to have the plastic tips of them to be melting from such a bad connection, I do not have any codes but the p2259 intake air sinonoid, but the car is just slow accelerating I put my foot to the floor and the car has no balls until like 4-5000rpm? Could bad coil connection have ducked my motor up?

It's automatic if that matters

Hi, I replaced my OEM coil set with new coils from Motorking, I didn't know there are right/wrong versions of coils ? Can you please tell me if there is anything else I should check other than the coils ? i.e can this issue occur due to faulty connectors/cables ?
