Unusually hot climate control.

So winter is here and I've been using the heater. One thing I noticed that is unusual about my RX8's climate control temperature knob is that most of it is in the hot zone. I could be cruising on the highway on a cold 40 degree night with temp control set to the middle neutral setting, and it would blow hot air. I usually put it to the highest temp setting when I get in the cold car and warm it up, but it quickly gets HOT when the car is warmed up. To drive the car comfortably, i would have to set the knob halfway intot he cool blue zone to have a neutral climate setting even with the fan off.

I've included a little diagram of how my climate control knob acts at certain positions. It also doesn't matter if it is on recirculate. What could be the problem? Is it the usual faulty hvac control issue?

could be a known issue with the temp control knob not working properly. Hit the Stereo Power Button + the Scan UP(right side) button to monitor your temperature control. Move your temp control through the range and see if its hitting 1-16 properly. If not, there's a DIY for air too hot/cold on fixing this (requires soldering). I need to do mine, b/c it won't always goto cold, but if I go all the way HOT and back down to cold, it will move through the range okay, so I'm good for now, maybe you can find a solution too.

I monitored the temp control and it moves from 0-16 just fine. It read "A/C Temp" if I recall correctly. If I put the knob to max cool, it would read zero an as I move towards max hot, the number would increase from 0 to 16.

Still having issues with the unusually hot climate control.

I have the same problem.........always blowing HOT

+1, it's either HOT or Cold. Of course I prefer a hot blow in the winter

man i wish my car would heat. its -10 degrees here and if it isnt for the heated seats i freeze my ass off even a full blast heat.

If I turn it to the middle after the car warms up, the heat would be almost unbearable. This is when it's 25 degrees out.

So to resurrect an old thread instead of posting a new one, i tried the trick to see what level the ac is on, and its 0, all the time. I guess my next step is dealership? Especially because I want my heat working before winter kicks in. Any other suggestions?

if you're good with soldering iron, you can take the thing out and repair it yourself.

If not, a Reman unit cost hmm I think 2-300 bux. if my memory is working

That's awesome... Would my 65k warranty cover it mayhaps?
