uhm..... wth is with my stereo?!
yes i've searched. if i have missed it then i am terribly deeply sorry. so if there IS a thread on this just call me a dumbass and i will try searching again.
so i was driving my 8 today when suddenly the stereo and idiot cluster just went out and music shut off completely. i got home and turned it off. when i turned it to acc the stereo would light up but not the idiot cluster. when i start the car the idiot cluster just flickers and the stereo loses all its light. when i first installed my gauges 3 weeks ago it flickered a bit then never did it again till now. any suggestions? any help would be very very appreciated. thanks. EDIT: i forgot to mention my traction and abs light is on after i got home, turned the car off, and turned it back on. |
I'm guessing no ones ever ran into this problem..... ugh.... this sucks.

My car had idiot-cluster issues; they were related to heat. Nothing shut-off; just everything got garbled.

Yeah I searched all other thread related to stereo and everyone has thay problem. My old 04 had that problem. I would bring my car to the dealer but I'm afraid they might void my warrantly due to the gauges I installed.
Anyway I just took out the radio and it seems the biggest plug seemed to be loose. I pushed it back in til it clicked(coulda sworn I did that last time) and tried turning the car on again, same problem. Flickering and such. It got annoying to I disconnected the idiot cluster. I'm thinking it got shorted? I checked all the fuses(ALL the fuses) again, and nothing. |
This morning I noticed that behind the head unit at the bottum it shows >ABS/PC< I'm guessing that's what made my abs and traction light illuminate... also wth does pc mean?
|
uh, dude - i haven't dismantled the HU, but is >ABS/PC< stamped on plastic somewhere?
could be the usual mark for abs plastic, yo. ( as in acrylonitrile butadiene styrene + polycarbonbonate... get it?) -- as for your real problem, probably messed up something when your gauges went in; can't say what, just check and recheck all your connections [and the HU's] (might be worth it to disconnect the gauges and see where that gets you ~ hope you didn't fry anything. good luck. |
